Hi Lindsay.
It's really disappointing that you've had no reply here. Was there not info on Register parking in Porsche Post for the 993 Register?
The display cars will all have tickets sent out in advance, so there should be no option to display on the day.
Firstly, you can pick up the phone to your Register Sectretary and ask to display, but the spaces were allocated on Monday and if there's not been a request for a 993 area then there won't be any places. Secondly, pick up the phone to the Register Director: he's new in the role and this is exactly what he needs to deal with urgently.
It's hard to get cars to commit to displaying, but it's really important for the Registers in my opinion.
Charles, same goes for you. There's been no response on the forum so you need to pick up the phone I'm afraid.
As Paul says the RSs (and ROs for that matter) have to book a Register parking place at Althorp - otherwise we could get lots of empty areas with no one in if we made a space available for every Register and Region! Its happened before and it really looks awful.
Two thirds of the Register have booked a place which is absolutely marvelous. The Respective Reg Sec will the send out the Register parking tickets for each day prior to the event.
To date the 993 Reg Sec has not committed to being present at the event, but I am quite happy to organise a 993 Register parking space for 10 cars should there be an appetite for it.
All we really need is for the Reg Sec or the Asst Reg Sec to be the focal point to distribute the passes. Over to you guys to make your representation.
I'm unsure of the point you are trying to make from the above. When I was Register Director I requested via my column in PP several times for Register Secretaries to come forward if they required Register Parking at the Nation event. Your request for space was noted and passed on to the new RD. Also acknowledged in the link below.
Now take a look at https://www.porscheclubgb../forum/tm.aspx?m=865412
What I could not understand is why from the above forum link people were posting as far back as January 2015 on the 993 Forum 'Will the 993 Register have parking at Althorp?' 'can I please have a space for my car on the 993 Register area?' As far as I could see they did not get a response on your forum.
A simple acknowledgement or reply on the forum to all those posting and asking questions/requesting space would have
reassured everyone that the 993 Register was in its rightful place at our national event.
As I said in my post earlier - there is a Register parking area for 10 cars. 'All we really need is for the Reg Sec or the Asst Reg Sec to be the focal point to distribute the passes. Over to you guys to make your representation'.
Still waiting.................[:-]
Dear Porsche Club member,
We are very close now to the Club’s national event at Althorp House. We have the opportunity of presenting a world class Porsche display at Althorp but we have limited space. We are keen to make the most of the space urgently and we, accordingly, invite 993 owners to display their cars in the Register areas, at the centre of the event.
If you wish to display your car in your allocated Register parking area you will need to be attending either Saturday (15th Aug) afternoon and/or Sunday (16th Aug) and be willing to leave your car in place for the duration. We have 20 spaces available on a ‘first come, first served’ basis and hope that you will be keen to show off your pride and joy. Please advise by 12noon on Friday 7th August.
Please contact me, Narinder Webb, by Friday noon if you wish to display your 993 and I will email you with further details and then post a ‘Display’ mirror hanger to you to provide access to the Register display areas.
Thank you for your attention and I look forward to seeing you at the event.
Narinder Webb
Event Co-ordinator
