Yes, I need to regear my gearbox, I have more less the ratios for the 3rd, 4th and 5th gears, I don't want to change the two first.

I know than in USA you can buy a good gears to Guards Transmissions, but may be there are some one in Europe who make a good Porsche gears to my gearbox. Any suggestions???

Thanks

Would you know what ring and pinion you have on your car? I would change this first, to shorten the gear-ratios. Great on the 964 RS.

Phil... I have 9/31 (3.444) gear and pinion, but I don't want to change it cause the gap between gears are the same, I need shorter gaps...

I saw the following chart:

With 18" rim, 645mm diameter at 7200rpm

1st 12/42 to 72,67km/h
2nd 17/35 to 123,54km/h (gap 50,87km/h)
3rd 19/29 to 166,64km/h (gap 43,61km/h)
4th 22/27 to 207,25km/h (gap 40,61km/h)
5th 25/26 to 244,56km/h (gap 37,31km/h)

I think for a car with more 300hp and 1055 kgs that are a good gear chart...

Suggestions???

Here are the Cup figures which I prefer to RS at Spa.

964 Cup 1990 transmission typ G50/10-4 has following gear rations:
1st 3,500 95030290113 cup racing part (no longer available)
2nd 2,059 95030291200 cup racing part (no longer available)
3rd 1,407 95030290336 standard part carrera 2
4st 1,086 95030290431 standard part carrera 2
5th 0,868 95030290540 standard part carrera 2

Mine will be:

3,5 (stock gear)
2,059 (stock gear)
1,526
1,227
1,040

then I change 3rd, 4th & 5th for a top speed at 7200rpm than 244km/h

The stock 5th gear arrive up to 280km/h... this is too large to Spa or any circuit...

Sounds sensible for a track car. I never got to as much 220 on track, even at Spa I think , so judging from better acceleration and a bit more driver capability I agree 244 should give you ample room, so you arent left on the limiter anywhere.

This has to be the biggest bang for buck performance upgrade for a track car. We swap ratios on the other race car for every circuit we go to.

Thanks, but I need an adress or something similar to buy it in Europe, for me is better, VAT and no custom charges...

Any suggestions???

sorry to hack this tread
but also any ideas on where to buy the short ring-pinion stuff?

thanks
Hgo

yes the 8/32.
is it a straight swap in the gearbox?
any ideas about price?
and where to buy a quality set?
or best to buy Porsche sets?
or is it available second hand somewhere?

thanks
Hgo
