Refurbishing Speedlines

Hi guys,

I need to refurbish my Speedlines. As I live in Glasgow, I do not want to travel too far down south to get it refurbished. Anyone with any recommendations?

Adrian on 07831572087, Manchester area. Paul Howells uses him and he did mine £850.00 and a very nice job to.
 
Scott thanks for your information. I think I saw a post about Adrian previously. Do you know if he re-etches the "Speedline for Porsche" now or does he still use stickers. I would like mine re-etched as per the original.

Adrian is a good friend (nice 964rs driver as well)
Yes he now etches to original factory spec including "offset sizes" etc and will probably collect/deliver.
Finish is as factory!!

If you have them refurbed as per original ie laquered they will not last long if you use them in inclement weather. I had mine done a few years and 30K miles ago, but anodised instead of laquered. They are still as good as new with no crazing, bubbling etc which happens with laquering. If car is going to be sunny weather, little track use etc it probably won't matter anyway but I thought it worth mentioning.
 
FWIW i totally agree anodising route .............once done forget for ever and if done well ,very small difference from original .........................as soon as they start heating up, 3 piece expand and contract , any stone chip is the begining of the end for laqueur, back to where u started ,in very short order ..............if u dont use them no prob , track days , salt whatever the anodised finish stays fine with no more than a sponge and and water ..............................
 
Diamond Styling did mine. Recently company sold so can't vouch for new owners. When mine done cost was c.£1000 but I've heard the new mob charge much more. Hopefully Adrain can get the rim parts anodised for not much more than laquering.
 
As above used Speedline , Chris Talabi retired now as said, sold to some guy in Sevenoaks ....................seem to be carrying on ok .IMHO £1000 very good value , had an agreed price over several sets , was trying £1300 at the end of his time ' for new business'
 
I have tried to get a set re-anodised unsuccessfully via ninemeister. I followed many in-depth discussions on
this subject on Rennlist 964 turbo forum and the conclusion is that it cant be done! Only way to get to factory standard is to buy a new set !
Anyone interested could do a search on Rennlist when they have a few hours to spare...
 
FYI the factory finish is lacquered .......................they were never long lasting and sourcing new unused set IRO £3000...............................Anodised properly i ran an rs/cs for 3 years , driving to Oulton for an rs day in the snow , i e used hard all year round mainly track days ,getting very hot etc ......sold in perfect nick....................similar story roadused all year round 993 rs and meaty GT2 slightly diff rims ,ie they have the extra steel band on GT2 ...smae once done perfect
 
I am sure in previous discussions on anodising wheels, either Ben S or Nick M, mentioned there was a facility near dartford who could anodise for £20 a rim, Nick M may say more when he sees this thread.
 
I have been keeping an eye on this thread. I have anodised the GT3 Mk1 2 piece rims with good results, but have not yet done any Speedlines as everyone wants to keep them original. I have a set of my own which I will do shortly and post results.
 
The problem with anodysing is that you need a perfect rim to start with. Merely polishing won't do. Anodysing shows up any imperfection. You get lots of small pits after the anodysing process has been done if your rims have seen any corrosion at all in the past. I have been through this process with Adrian before (a top lad by the way whose work is A1). In the end I got em polished an lacquered and they looked great, but the job won't last me forever.
