rear seatbelt advice please

I have rear lap belts in my 86 Lux and wonder if rear inertia belts would fit straight in and where they are mounted?

On my 1988 924S, the third mounting point is about 1/2 way up the "C" pillar, if yours has these, you should be able to feel the indentation behind the fabric. The other two mounting points are as for lap belts.

The difficulty may be that in the C pillar, there is a large plate inside the double wall, into which the belt attachement bolt monts. If yours doesn't have this reinforcement, I don't see an economical way of fitting it.
 
3 point inertia rears are not a straight fit. To fit inertia ones you need a slight adjustment via a bracket at the bottom. Your options are specialist company fit, make or obtain the adapter/bracket for the fit yourself or get 3 point NON inertia belts.

As mas has said, Porsche inertia ones from a '44 won't fit unless you have the mounting bracket in the boot on the of car, if it wasn't dark I'd take a pic to show you, but I'll go and have a look around see if I can find some comparison pictures anywhere
 
If its an oval dash it should have the plates in the rear wing for the inertia reels, square dash ones dont - '85 could be either.
It should be possible to make up suitable plates and bolt in with 3 or 4 bolts.

As per Tam Lin. I had 3-point fixed belts fitted to the back of my '87 Turbo. The fixing point was already there on the C pillar. Quickfit (highly recommended: http://www.quickfitsbs.com/ - not kwikfit!) did mine for ~£130. They would have fitted inertia reels for another couple of hundred and didn't mention anything about needing to cut or weld anything.

Interesting. I'm always on the lookout for ways to it small children in the back, once they are booster seat age. Is tat why you did it?

 
Yes. The issues I have now the belts are fitted is that you really need a booster seat with an integral back, that still fits in the very tight bucket seat because otherwise the diagonal strap of the belt is too far in front of the child. The fixing point on the C pillar is too far forward really. My 5 year old is just about OK with just a booster base but my 3 year old needs the booster seat back too.
 
If you got around to taking any pic is be keen to see. I've wondered if a better solution might be to remove the back seats altogether and bolt in entire child seats. Would require some drilling I suppose. And I'm not sure if it would be legal etc.

I have a blank plug on the c pillar so it looks like i could fit inertias, is there a bracket that is needed to angle the seatbelt reel or os it part of the seatbelt itself?

It depends on the year of your car. All 924s onwards have provision for either static three point belts or static/inertia two point belts. Whats missing from earlier cars is the inertia reel mounting bracket in the boot.
 
The banking plug is to mount the.
top of 3 point fixed or the "roller" for 3 point inertia
The reel itself mounts in the boot on the plate mentiomed.
Ad I understand it 924s and oval dash 944 have this plate.
Square dash 944 and 2 litre 924 don't.
