rear lights

hello there i am picking up my s2 on saturday and on the bottom of the back lights the seal is going off. does my 1984 lux lights fit because the seal on the lux is still good???

How much for the panel? It is nice having the two vents as oppose to the four you usually see. (in my opinion)

The only place I have found so far with an umbrella vending machine in the town centre (well, in the harbour) !

Is this the place with the large seafood market ? (couldn't remember whether Olso/Bergen). Could hardly drag my wife away.

Yes, in Bergen it " always " rain, and we have a big seafood market.

I do like that look Sandvik. Is it a fibreglass panel or a steel one with holes cut?

Drat! I've just had my standard one repainted, that would have been nice to add at the same time for extra intercooler cooling and not bad at all for 180 Euros
 
Richard at Protocast will do exchange rear lights I think, but yours have to be perfect. Otherwise he might sell outright. He can do clear indicator or clear indicator and top fog lens.
 
The rear lights have to be sealed in, so there's two possibilities. It could be a bad re-sealing job when the lights were taken out to replace or repaint around them, plenty of cars get a light knock on the corners over the years, or more likely it's an untidy attempt to cure a water leak.

You can easily reseal it; gently warm the sealer to soften it, remove the light, clean it all up, and apply the new sealer a bit more carefully than the previous owner!
 
it's definitely the factory sealant ,it does that especially in the summer . Take your tail lights out ,clean the surface and reseal them ,be careful though as that sealant is pretty hard to clean ,don't scratch the paint.
 
Dum Dum mastic is the stuff you need, old stuff gets hard and brittle after time or gets dissolved with heavy detergents/degreasers. Not too difficult to use, its quite pliable, you roll it into long snake shapes like you did plasticine at school and place around light cluster before refitting, have to remove old stuff first mind.

I bought a roll of the genuine stuff from Porsche for something stupid like £40, but we wanted to do the cab "right"... when I get round to it we will use what we need and can divide the remainder up if anyone is interested. There are plenty of cars that have leaking tail lights, but also plenty where the original seals are still working fine after 20odd years, so I reckon the original stuff is probably as good as it gets.
