Rear Fog Light

Slightly strange one from a newbie…..

I’m moving to Germany for 3 years with work and my 996 C4S will need to pass a TUV test (German MOT).

As the headlights are flat beam (should pass) the only thing I need to do is add a rear fog to the left hand side (as would be standard on a EU car). Gemini says you just need to remove the reflector, add the fog light bulb holder (which I believe is the same for either side) and then run a feed from the right hand side fog - both the light up and I’ll pass the TUV….

Question to you guys….

Is this correct, or is it way more complicated?

Thanks

Ian

My RHD 996 resides in France and when I moved here I had to do the same. Surprisingly when I removed the LH rear cluster there was a bulb already in the holder for the fog light. I simply added a wire from right side holder to left. As there was a bulb in place I thought that illuminating it may just need a ´system’ switch but no info on that ever discovered.

They are all wired like that, so as David says, just run a wire across from the right hand light unit to the left. You may need to remove the bulb from the right hand side to meet TUV requirements.

Hi Ian,

Just to bring up your comment about not having to adjust the headlights for EU running. On my 987.2 Cayman with Bi Xenon PDLS headlights they have to be removed and a shutter has to be flipped manually to flatten the beam and stop the upward flick which normally illuminates the left hand verge. Are you sure that something similar doesn’t apply to your 996? Best to check your Driver’s Manual for applicable instructions.🤔
