Rear Bumper differences

I’m back on the car so apologies in advance for all the questions that are coming your way - But I will post picture’s shortly [;)]

so looking at my car I have 3mm gap on passenger side from end of the rear bumper to rear quarter but on the drivers side I have 13mm
reading a few threads am I right in thinking I may not have a turbo bumper fitted ?
Or are there different lengths of towing eye brackets?

Thanks Ken
just removed the bumper it’s part number 931.505.387.00 which I guess is a 2.5S fitment
?

Hi Ken

I wasn't aware the turbo had a different bumper, but the gap should be similar both sides, although these cars are not known for their perfect symmetry from the production line!

Stuart

Thanks Stuart
I have been googling from what I can find Turbo and S2 bumpers are 10mm longer[] than 2.5S
the part number is slightly different
before I buy a new one I was hoping someone else could confirm if I’ve got this correct[8|]

Yes the bumpers are indeed different and the rubber protection strip is much wider on the Turbo / S2 bumper than the 8v cars.

My car got rear ended a few weeks after I bought it in 2007 and the insurers body shop fitted the 931 part number bumper and rubber strip (meaning I had no towing eye). We noticed it when restoring my car and I bought a new rubber protection strip and we drilled the bumper to fit and also to make a hole for the towing eye (mounting points for rubber strip are in different locations).

I may get around to putting on the correct turbo bumper at some point if it is indeed slightly different dimensions.

Standard 944 Rear Bumper (non-US) - 931 505 387 00 (this is the one I have) - £264.04 inc VAT
944 S2 / Turbo Rear Bumper (non-US) - 951 505 387 01 - £421.08 inc VAT

Bump strip for 944 S2 / Turbo Rear Bumper - 951 505 069 01 - £339.85 inc VAT!!!

NOTE: The S2 / Turbo Bumper starts 951 (not 931 as shown in the post above)

Perfect thanks
looks like I need a new bumper then.

That moved quickly from a rear bumper! I think (not done it though) it is much easier with the pump removed.

One more quick question :ROFLMAO:

do I need to remove the ABS pump to get the wing off?

No - I had my car resprayed a few years ago and the ABS pump stayed where it was.

I refitted the wings myself and didn't have to disturb the pump.

However if you still have the charcoal canister for fuel vapours, then you will have to remove that, as you cannot access the screws at the back of the wing otherwise.

Thankyou

I ordered a used Bumper on ebay from an undamaged S2 but the bumper has same part number as mine the 931 version []
if anyone has the rear bumper of their turbo/S2 please check the part number for me
thanks Ken
