Ran my 73T 911 at Shelsley Walsh last weekend, first time for over 20 years. What a weekend!

It was SO SLOW! managed a 38 so 3 secs off the best the car did in 2003 but on fresh Kumho V70 soft tyres and an engine about 30K miles younger, oh, and a driver 20 years younger too...and a bit scared of damaging the car, would break my heart after 37 years of ownership.
Felt so lethargic and heavy, the engine note barely changed going up the steepest part of the hill.
The tyres now are 11 year old Dunlop Blu sports and rock hard, not ideal.
Having said all that it was a real weekend of nostalgia with a fab atmosphere heaving with like minded people.
Found all my old bits for hillclimb preparation in the loft, so the car was 'race-ready' in 1 hour! Good to keep some things, you never know.
I hope to do it again next year if I can get an entry. Talk about a cat that keeps on giving.

Indeed.
Started hillclimbing in this 911 in 1991, explains my forum 'name' 911hillclimber.
Developed it over 13 years inc 3 engine swops, learnt a lot and had a great time.
Wasn't fast enough against the rest in the class, so retired it and bought a hot Subaru Impreza and took that to 370 bhp and rubber -free suspension.
Much faster for a few years, then to catch the newcomers needed some serious ££££ so sold it to a friend who put it on it's roof first time out.
Of course, did the Lola-Porsche starting in 2008, a whole new book let alone chapter, but kept the 911 as a road only car for many years with the 3.2 engine.
Then decided to have some fun with the 911 last weekend, and so it proved.
I hope to race it again next year.
I'm a lucky boy.
