Radio on 981

I have a 981 Boxster S.

It has the standard radio package.

The quality of the speakers is pretty poor in my eyes (I had a 987 Boxster S with the Bose package before and that seemed to be a lot better, at least when playing off the CDs).

What's more, the radio tends to be pretty fuzzy. It is not because of the area I am in, nor is it the station as all FM stations have the same problem.

I have had it in with OPC to look at the fuzzy radio reception (under the warranty). They have replaced several things to try to correct the radio - and said they had fixed it after having the car for two weeks - yet it is still not working. Interestingly, I found radio reception on my 987 to be poor. Do Porsche just use poor quality radios????

I'm loathed to return it to Porsche given the hassle factor, but will probably have to.

Any ideas? Others have a similar problem?

I had exactly the same issues with my Boxster S 981. I returned the car to my local Porsche dealer where I purchased it about 3 months earlier and they arranged to check/test the vehicle out, apparently it was down to the Aerial which is located within the windscreen itself. They replaced the windscreen under warranty problem solved, They even provided me with a replacement vehicle whilst the work was completed, 4 days in a Carrera 4S! No hassle .

Have to say I am not that impressed either, it's ok ish on main Bbc stations but little else is good quality.its down to the aerial, but generally, porsche dissapointed me with thier radio reception, had 11 various 911 and 987/981and none have been as good as my old BMW's.
 
My 2012 Boxster has great radio reception on the Sussex coast with a wide range of stations available.
Sounds like an aerial problem.
 
It seems like the radio interference is a common problem amongst Boxsters (or Porsches). A friend of mine who also has a 981 has the same problem. And wait for it, the Cayman courtesy car I drove is also having the same problem. I live in London and driving around in London is when I experience the problems. My car has been into Porsche 2 or 3 times and they still haven't fixed it. I'm close to giving up

My 981 Cayman S doesn't have any problem with radio reception. It is better than my BMW in fact as there is a part of my commute where the BMW suffers interference but bizarrely the Porsche is OK there.

The poor quality of the sound system plus is unforgivable though.
 
I have a Boxster 981 with the sound system plus.

Radio reception works ok in mine around Oxfordshire.

However I agree the sound system plus is awful and I'm looking around for company to upgrade it!!!
