R7 COMMITTEE?

Roger Goode said:
When I wrote my one line comment on 24th I was simply saying that it’s great that people are enthusiastic and putting forward ideas but that anything organised on behalf of the club has to be agreed by those with the authority, the Regional Organisers, in due course with input from the COG as Carol has called the group. Of course members can organise whatever they like whenever they like but can’t call it an R7 event, without approval.

Ian Gilmour thinks there was a “tone’ to my comment that might dampen enthusiasm. Let me assure everyone that there wasn’t a “tone”, it was merely a statement of fact. Maybe I could have made my comment pink and fluffy but I didn’t think that was necessary on an R7 forum. I don’t think Porsche owners are easily dented. I certainly hope that nobody was offended or had their enthusiasm dampened. If I have offended anyone let me assure you that that was most certainly not my intention and I apologise to anyone whose enthusiasm was dented. I said and I mean that “enthusiasm and ideas are to be applauded”.

For the record I think the suggestion by Chris, Carnaby35 of Sunday breakfast meets during the winter, is an excellent idea.

In overtly criticisIng me publcly on this forum, Ian Gilmour clearly did not consider or did not care about whether my enthusiasm might be dented.

I‘m sure that creation of the COG will energise what is already a great and vibrant region (thanks largely to the great work of Carol and Mark) still further. It will I think raise the profile of the club in all parts of Yorkshire and it will definitely ease the pressure on Carol and Mark by spreading the load.

I note Mark‘s intention of holding a meeting of volunteers in November and look forward to 2019 which I’m sure will be another great year for R7.

Let's leave the debate of "I said this and he said that" behind on this forum and allow those that are interested to get on with creating the 'COG' and ideas for future events, in whatever order they want to do it. Whether this be on this forum, at a Club Night or at a specially convened "COG" meeting is up to them.

You started it Ian and I have responded to your criticism.

We can talk face to face at the weekend.

On the contrary, I seem to remember you made the first comment.

Rob and Chris et al

It might be bare knuckles lol but to be frank it‘s become so laughably silly that I can’t be bothered wasting any more time or energy on it. It’s more like handbags at dawn.

I have no doubt that lots of ideas will be put forward and the Yorkshire COG will be a great success.

Chaps, other than handbags, is there an event this weekend?

Clearly I’ve missed it if there is. 😳

Mike 🙂

Hi Mike

It‘s the Weekend of the Year trip with an overnight stay in Bamburgh.

Mark posted information on 24 May I believe.

Roger

Hi Roger,

I missed that, hope that all taking part have a great trip, stay safe too.

Hope to catch up with folk at the club night.

Enjoy.

Mike

I’ll be top of the list for next years WOTY then Roger as Ellie has just exclaimed ’we could have done that for your birthday’ 😂

Hope you’ve all had fun.

Mike
