Hi Mark and Wendy

Welcome, and hope to see you at a club night or other event; I too have Impreza Turbos and STI in my past and now have a 987S

Graham

Hi, thanks for the warm welcome. I always preferred my turbos to the STI I had. Always felt the STI was too heavy, it did have serious road presence though. But oh, the EVO VI Tommi, what a car :).

Mark

Thanks for the confirmations of who has booked - looks like it is going to be a good trip.

Currently 4 rooms are still available

I too preferred my Turbo with I had for five years after buying it new in 1998 to the STI which was new in 2003. It had the Prodrive PPP so it was quick but it never handled right and felt quite uneasy at high speed. Numerous trips to the dealers trying different things never got it right so got a year old BMW M3 (e46) which was great until BMW Harrogate crashed and wrote it off whilst they had it in for service.
Thsts when the Boxster arrived which is hugely better than any of the other cars.

My wife and I are interested in this, but as a new member is it the done thing or do I have to get involved with other things first?

Adam, you and your wife will be as welcome as anyone who has been a member for years. It will be a great way to get to know fellow members and anyway by then I’m sure you’ll have a number of events under your belt.

Adam
I’m delighted that you’ve booked and taken another step towards enjoying your Porsche to the max.
Do you think you’ll make it to the Club Night or is it a bit distant on what may be a working day for you? If you do I look forward to meeting you there.

Looking forward to it Roger.

Am I right in thinking that the next club night is on the 2nd at the woodlands hotel?? i think I read somewhere 8pm if so then we may be able to get up in time, work finishes at 6pm.
Whats a typical club night consist of??

Hi Adam
I apologise for not replying earlier.
‘Yes the January club night is on 2nd. If you arrive early enough there may be a ‘tab’ in place, kindly paid for by Porsche Leeds. Once it’s gone, it’s gone.
Club Nights are informal gathering of members, many who have become friends through the club, united by the love of Porsche. Chat is often about past events and upcoming events, who‘s going, where to meet up etc., however, it’s not all about events and Porsches. Essentially it is a gathering of friends. It is my intention that at the new South Yorkshire club night which will at The Red Lion, Todwick, there will be a short break to make announcements and discuss whose going to what event and where to meet up to drive from if that’s appropriate. There are usually a good number of ladies present so your wife mustn’t be concerned that she’ll be the only lady there.
Newcomers can sometimes find it a bit daunting at first, seeing groups of people chatting and not knowing anyone. We do try to spot newcomers and introduce them (not in a formal sense) to other members. When you arrive we’re likely to be in the bar area and often it’s only PCGB members there. If you say to someone that you’re a new member either they will take you under their wing or introduce you to one of the CoG (Coordinators Group) who will look after you. Matt, Dean and I are part of the CoG, the Regional Organisers are Mark and Carol Jessop.
I, indeed we look forward to meeting you.
Should you have any questions any of us will be happy to answer them. My email is rogergoode47@gmail.com mobile 07541 275 978.
Regards
Roger

Thanks for being so helpful Roger, I’ll do my best to get home from work to make it next Wednesday. I know where the hotel is so we should make it in time, I’ll look forward to meeting you then.

I agree with the recommendation for Zunsport grilles made on the other thread. I fitted them in 2017 for protection and because I like the look of them. It is a simple job to fit them.

Don‘t be surprised if there aren’t many Porsches in the car Park next Wednesday since some like me SORN them for a few months, others come straight from work and others don’t think it’s worthwhile taking them out to just drive to the club night. It’s a very different story once Spring arrives!

No problems at all, by coincidence my wife asked today what we would do if the weather is foul. I won’t get shunned or hung drawn and quartered then for turning up in the work horse :ROFLMAO:

Certainly not Adam. I’ll be in my VW Passat CC, a great car incidentally. I never feel disappointed when I drive it after I’ve been driving a Porsche. To be honest what’s the point of probably getting the Boxster dirty and possibly subjected to salt for the sake of a largely motorway drive in the dark to park in a darkish car park lol.

The meet at the Red Lion sounds convenient Roger, even though I now live in Penistone, I was born in Beighton so still class that area as ‘my neck of the woods’ if you know what I mean.

It's not very often I input any messages. But will definitely be going to The Red Lion, I live in that village. No excuses for not attending.

That’s good to hear Frank because of course we’ve arranged to meet there especially with you in mind ??, well, all members in South Yorkshire.??
The first club night at the Red Lion will be on Wednesday 10th April and there will announcements in the meantime. I look forward to seeing you there.

Might be a good idea to start a new thread rather than clouding up this one about the WOTY, it can make it very difficult to follow the relevant WOTY information when other subjects are spread around it.
