R4 – Offcom Radio Licence Number BR01803689/
Date of issue 13/06/26
Date of Expiry 12/06/31
Licensee Name PCGB(R4)
The above Licence allows R4 Members to use hand-held radios (walkie-talkies), with a transmitting power not greater than 5 watts, when engaged in an R4 event (e.g. run out, display etc).
Hand-held radios do not fall under the same legislation as mobile phones and it is not illegal to operate one while driving. However, if it was determined that while using one you were distracted and this affected your driving in some way, you could still be liable to prosecution. Please always use your radio(s) responsibly, as you are wholly liable for their use.
If you own your own radio(s), do not hold a personal licence, and are a member of R4 then you can register it/them with R4, in which case you are covered to use them on any R4 event. We also have a number of ‘pool’ devices that can be used by Members only while engaged on an R4 event. These can be distributed on as as-needed basis.
The scope of the licence covers use in the UK only and when engaged in an R4 event.
If you’d like to register your device with R4, then you should send an email to r4@PCGB.co.uk with the subject line 'Radio Registration' and include:
- Your Name and PCGB Membership Number
- The Make of your device (Mitex, Baofeng etc)
- The serial number of your device (usually behind the battery)
- Your contact telephone number
