R3 Regional show August 19th 2018

Well R3 you really brought your A game to Witton Castle today, even the terrible weather forecast couldn't dampen your spirits and after initial set up early on it really wasn't too bad.

Thank you to everyone who helped in one way or another to ensure this show was a huge success including the guys and girls who came to support R3 from other Regions on such a damp and miserable morning.

I would especially like to thank those who worked tirelessly all day either manning car parks, stalls, fund raising, concours participation, set up and tear down. I think we can safely say due to the diversity of this years event, with even a tractor finally on the show field, this was our best Regional show to date.

The show lay out seemed to have really worked well this year and I am keen to discuss this further at a future meeting to find out from members your thoughts on the trade stands today. One thing I am sure that you will all be pleased to know is, including the kind donation from John Hawkins and Specialist Cars the final total raised this year for the Great North Air Ambulance was a fantastic £1420.00

Thanks again for your continued help and support,

Greg & Deb.

Well, my first R3 show and a fantastic one at that! The heavy rain forecast for the whole day didnt quite arrive thankfully, just a bit of drizzle on the way down and then for part of the drive home.

Great to see such breadth and depth in the variants of stunning cars of this brilliant marque owned by our region’s members.

Apologies to Rob who we just missed at Washington Services - unfortunately we were running late this mornin for the intended rendezvous to drive down.

Mrs B arrived later in the morning with my stepson and both thoroughly enjoyed the show. However I’m not inviting her back to next year’s as she nicked-off home in my BGTS leaving me in my diesel Passat 😡

great job by Greg, Deb and everyone involved in putting this together, it is appreciated.

David B

Thanks Greg & Deb for another great show - the weather behaved itself so no dodging the forecast showers. We really appreciate the time & effort that goes into something like this. Our little dog is exhausted now after seeing each car at least twice!! Didn’t have a chance to speak to many people which was a shame - I forgot our folding chairs so was always on the move.

Where does the time go? We arrived at 10.30'ish had a natter with a member, a visitor (from Manchester) and Jan, the Head Tech from Porsche Teesside, would you believe about cars!!, and all of a sudden it was 1.00pm. Had a quick cuppa and did an hour's parking duty, then it was raffle draw and Concours prize giving and all of sudden the day was gone. While 98% of us turn up, enjoy the day and disappear, like I did, there is a small band of dedicated organisers who work tirelessly in the background with arrangements made weeks before the event and non-stop "Oiling of the wheels" during the day. Congratulations and thanks to Deb and Greg (and the other regional support team members) who work hard and long before and after the nice bits to make this and other events a success.

Well done Greg & Deb a great day out again , the show is getting bigger & better every year it was our 4th, we have seen it grow.

I know you will find it hard to believe but i was lost for words when my car was given a place in the judging. There was a fine display of some very impressive vehicles in the concours, there was good banter between us all and tips exchanged. Enjoyed the fresh air, picnic and food from the various stalls, weather once again was kind to us.

Hi Greg & Deb,

Thank you! And to the many helpers and those who took part or merely rocked up to make it such a successful day!

Cheers,

Paul

Hi ye see you there

Bob

Hi Bob really sorry that we missed you at the meeting point at Washington services, we were running a bit late (well I was unfortunately) and we pulled in about 8.45am. I think you were just pulling away as we came into the car park as I saw the back end of a black 911 pulling out past the service station and onto the A1.

Next time though, sorry if you waited very long for us.

A fantastic day Greg and Deb thanks so much for organising everything. A lot of hard work must have gone into it. That was my first R3 show and I really enjoyed it. I was also amazed at how much attention my 986S was getting, so really didn’t expect that 😊

Enjoyed helping out with the Marshalling too, something different and glad to help again if I can.

Hi Paul

Your 964 was without a doubt the nicest one that I have ever seen, thanks for taking the time to tell myself and my mate David about it. The red leather interior is exquisite. Would love to hear it running if I see you at a future show. I seem to have a soft spot for 964s. Car of the day for me

Thanks

Simon

Thanks to all those involved in organising yesterdays show, despite the poor forecast the weather was kind to us and the show was well supported and a good day out.

Once again thanks to everyone involved in the pre event organisation and those who got involved on the day.

Looking forward to 2019.

Another great day in a field..... They really do just keep getting better and better.

Great to catch up with old friends and to plant some seeds for some new ones.

The effort and organisation that goes into such a day to make it run smoothly is a testament to the RO's Greg & Deb. However lets not forget Dave and Amy their ever present side kicks. A huge well done to the four of you.

Also the helpers that help set up and take down. Too many to mention.

Another very enjoyable day.

Andy and Angela
