R19 Summer Tyres for 987.2S

My 987.2 needs new tyres as the current ones have plenty of tread but are 2017. I will probably Sorn the car in December so will wait until Spring to change probably to PS4s. No point flat spotting new tyres over the winter. I don't think N rated would make any difference on a 17 year old car.

Lots of reviews and opinions out there. This one suggests the Pirelli PZ5 is the better option, but then you need to be able to find both fronts and rears …

The Pirelli is the newest tyre tested and it seems that there’s little to choose between the Continental, Goodyear and Michelins. These tests are always interesting and objective but tend to be using just one car, in this case a FWD Golf, and it’s difficult to gauge how much can be read across directly to our cars. A fair bit I would guess?

Assuming the PZ5 is available for the 987.2 on 19” wheels a bonus will be that Club members can claim up to £120 when purchasing from participating Pirelli dealers.

I used several sets of 19” Michelin PS2 N2 on my 987.2 for seven years. They were always excellent, in both grip and feel and I never felt that my tyres were in any way lacking.
It was a non PASM car so the low speed ride was always firm, and got worse as the tyres but I suspect any tyres on a non PASM 987 will be on the firm side.
If you do decide to go for a more recent non N rated tyre than the PS2 N2 then the PS4S is an excellent tyre.
But don’t confuse it with the PS4 which is not a sports car tyre.
The PS5 is the successor to the PS4 and should be avoided.
The PS4S outperforms the PS5 in every important aspect.
The successor to the PS4S is the PSS5
