R19 Convoy to Cornbury House Dec 7th

Hi folks

Are there any plans for an R19 convoy up to Cornbury House open day on Dec 7th? I see other regions are doing this...
 
You could always meet up with R31 (and possibly R21) at the Pear Tree Services just by the A34 at North Oxford, either on your own Jim or with a Region 19 convoy. It would be good to get the 3 regions together for the drive up to Moreton-in-Marsh wouldn't it? Just a suggestion.
 
That's not a bad idea. It's several years since R19 last went to Cornbury House for the Christmas open day. If my Porsche is on the road by then (currently SORNed) I might be up for it.

However it is the R19 Christmas meal the following weekend and more than one Porsche event in the run up to Christmas might be asking too much. The meal is the better event for my money.

Well I'm not massively fussed about Christmas meals and I haven't been up to Cornbury House yet so that's getting my attention. May well go for the Oxford meet-up
 
both good opinions. the key difference between Thames valley and a lot of other regions is that we have our regular monthly meeting on the first sunday of the month. Secondly it usd to be something that we did onc a year until the very helpful safety nazis ruined the run turning it into a tedious drag with very few national speed limit roads mostly all 50 mph even on the dual carriageways. I could keep up with a 911 turbo in my ax gti unless you want to risk your licence. Cornbury house does offer great hospitality on the December open day it has to be said. With meeting places up in the air at the moment I wouls not actively organise a run to Cornbury. Go, and get it out of your system. Once youve followed a slug or too at 10-15 limes an hour blow the speed limit the novelty sooon wears off. Yes I know the clever dickies say it's not a target but a limit, and that to me is just so much psychbabble, because if to pootle along at fifteen miles per hour below the speed limit on your driving test you will fail it for 'failing to make proper progress according to the prevailing road conditions' so where's your it's not a target now? A cautous but well heeled school chum of mine came back to the sixth form slightly crestfallen becasue he failed his test for that very reason. No, this year i am going to have to be present at our monthly meeting venue until we establish some stability again but for a one of visit Cornbury House is an extraordinary peice of real estae for a car club to posess. Go visit.
 
Well for me convoys have never been about speed but about camaraderie, I just find them to be a lot of fun; but even the convoy is secondary to the visit itself to Cornbury House. Pub meets I can take or leave to be honest; I like to have something actually going on at the events I attend.
 
Fair point about clashing with your monthly meeting John but for anyone contemplating joining in, I just wanted to say that a drive up the A44 heading into the Cotswolds on a Sunday morning in December is unlikely to be too busy [:)]. Whilst a 50mph limit does apply to some stretches, the national speed limit applies for a good part of it [:)]. And it's always good fun to drive through Chipping Norton in convoy (preferably in 2nd gear [:D]) too.

All good comments depending on which way you travel. I dont want to appear to be a speed freak and to be fair it is always hard on the man at the back so a lower overall speed would help out in that respect. I just don't like the route to Cornbury house any more, yet the roads have not changed.
