Just a quick heads up to all members that all our pending Events can be found in David Baker's regular email updates and also on the region's official PCGB Facebook page which can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/PCGB.R18 or simply by searching Facebook for "Porsche Club GB - Lancashire Region".

The Facebook page is kept up to date, it is the easiest way for your Events team to quickly publicise events and is also used to post pictures of events that have recently taken place.

Forthcoming events include:

10th October - Sunday drive and lunch through the picturesque Ribble Valley and Yorkshire Dales for lunch at The Fat Lamb, Ravenstonedale.
20th October - monthly meeting taking place at Porsche Centre Bolton.
29th October - "Chippy tea" at the smart Crow Wood Hotel, Burnley.
17th November - monthly meeting taking place at Garstang Hotel and Country Club with a legal update on motoring law. Subject to some ongoing high-level decision making and operational requirements, I am hoping to arrange for a highly experienced Traffic Officer from Lancashire Constabulary and his specialist Traffic Car to support this evening - to be confirmed!
27th November - Lancashire Day drive and lunch. Commencing at Porsche Centre Preston, there will be an excellent drive featuring some Lancashire landmarks.

With the exception of the November monthly meeting, these events do require pre-booking, primarily for catering purposes.

If you don't receive David's newsletters by email then please check your " My Profile" settings (button at the top right corner of your screen now - scroll up) and then select "Communication preferences". You are urged to "Like" the Facebook page too so that you are notified of any updates.

The Region has enjoyed some fabulous events recently to include opening celebrations with Richard Attwood at the brand new Porsche Centre South Lakes, our hugely successful track day at Blyton Park, a fantastic drive out to the Lake District, and members have enjoyed supporting a number of local car events too.

We have had a record number of new members join us over recent months and if you are a new member, David, Judy and all of their events team hope that you feel welcome and that you enjoy all that our wonderful Club has to offer. It can be hard to "break in" to a social group where people have been friends for many years and we recognise that. Our next monthly meeting is at Porsche Centre Bolton though and is bound to be a great experience. Maybe try one of our drives out first and start building some memories and you will soon get to know people - and we will get to see your lovely cars!

Sadly some of us are not on Facebook so how do we get to know about events and or additions/changes?

The Facebook feed is largely reliant on the content of David Baker's email updates and generally events posted there would be behind them rather than ahead of them. I can't think of an event we have posted on Facebook that has not been promoted by David.

Sadly, the regional website page is not kept up to date with events due to constraints on volunteers' time. Unfortunately, it is a little clunky to operate. David and I have both asked for help from someone with competent IT skills to assist and I am happy to extend the invitation again.

The beauty of the Facebook page is that it is so easy to keep up to date and, for example, to add venue locations with a map, add photographs etc. It is also interactive. The page reached 828 people in September and feedback has been pleasantly positive.

There's also Porsche Post of course and verbal updates at our meetings.

We are at Porsche Centre Bolton this month which is always a great evening. It does need pre-booking at r18@porscheclubgb.com though. :)

I know this is an older post, but I'm happy to chip in Rob if you need a lift with anything like that.

Matthew.

Many thanks, that would be brilliant actually.

I have sent you a message via FB messenger and I'm planning on going to the Farmyard Ales meeting tomorrow if you were thinking of going?

For those who would like to use the R18 event page on PCGB website, it's now been updated with some events over the Spring/Summer. Please bare with me as it's taking a bit of time to get through the events but it should be more up to date than it was. David's calendar that he sends out on the newsletter does include more third party events too. Of course as well @rob.kellock will be still updating the Facebook page as normal with events too.

20th April – Monthly meeting – Garstang Golf Club. A very small number of members bothered to respond to my last newsletter regarding whether you wanted a meeting tonight, so we will probably just be meeting in the bar area for a noggin & natter, as I don't want to pay for rom hire for only a handfull of memebrs.

If you are planning to come along please e-mail me at R18@porscheclubgb.com and I canbook a rom and sandwiches if sufficient will be attending.

21st Cars & Coffee – Bridge House Farm Tea Rooms, Wray. Get there by 17.30 if possible, to get parked on the main parking area. There is an overflow car park.

24th April – Sunday Cars & Coffee – The Ancient Oak, Cottam, Preston from 9.30

Following this breakfast event Chris & Kate Bird have organised a drive.

The drive will take around 1¼ hours and will end at The Fleece Inn in Dolphinholme. www.fleeceinn.co.uk

If you are interested please e-mail Chris Bird at the.aviary@live.co.uk ASAP

Anyone wanting lunch at The Fleece Inn must let Chris know by Wednesday 13th April latest so he can confirm numbers.

There is no requirement for a deposit, but if 12 or more people are interested in lunch, they will have to confirm their pre-order menu choices to Chris by Wednesday 20th April latest. Chris will send out the menu when you confirm interest.

29th May 2022 – Sunday R18 PRIDE OF OWNERSHIP CONCOURS Venue - Porsche Centre Preston It’s the time of year when we plan the concours for the Region and we are delighted to have been invited by PC Preston to host the event at their fabulous showroom. Please note that this is a ‘Pride of Ownership’ event and the judges will not be checking under your car etc. If you plan to come along please enter your car, as if we don’t get sufficient entries the event will be cancelled

So far we have had only 8 entries.

Thanks Matthew, you are a star.

This should be the link to the Concours entry form:

https://porscheclubgb.us10.list-manage.com/track/click?u=74d4205bb608ee396f7172f8b&id=981998c748&e=6084a1f551

This will be a great event and an excuse to give your car a quick wipe with a chamois leather and a quick vac ahead of the season's events. Anybody caught using a professional detailer to save their elbow grease will be placed into the R18 hall of shame. Bribes to the Judges will be very welcome though, cash is preferred, in a brown envelope. Sadly, Jamie Wilson has bought himself a replacement for his former prize winning Carrera T so competition is bound to be tough. Rumours are also circulating that Mike Trotter has his eyes on the visitor's trophy, with a rare public outing threatened by one of his Porsches - but he won't win anything with his dirty diesel, even if it's raining.

For those who prefer driving to polishing, come and join in the mischief, benefit from the extra points available for mileage, then head off early afternoon for a cruise - the Centre is barely 20 mins from the Flyde coast and sunny Lytham.

Entries remain open for almost another 6 weeks but please help Peter and David by not leaving it to the last minute.

Excellent post Rob.

If anyone has any problems getting an entry form then you can email me direct and I will send it asap: pr.bull@tiscali.co.uk

I hope we get plenty of entries as this will be a great day out for all members near or far.

PS straight crisp cash is fine for me - no envelope necessary!
