Hi everyone!

As we approach the season of joy, thanksgiving, goodwill to all, retail overload and excessive amounts of gratuitous consumption [:)] I would like to wish all R10'ers a Very Merry Xmas and a Happy & Healthy New Year 2014!!!

And as you wash down the last of the turkey and mince pies with a glass or two of Alka Seltzer, I ask that you turn your thoughts to ideas for our 2014 WOTY and similar, such as days out to interesting places.

If you can all post your thoughts on the forum, I will be happy to take the lead in arranging anything that finds favour with the wider group.

Look forward to the floods of inspiration [:D]


UPDATE 19.3.14... The R10 Weekend of the Year (WOTY) 2014 is confirmed for 19/20 July in North Wales

I have found a suitable hotel in a lovely town called Criccieth (thanks Irina :) near Portmeirion which will serve as our base.

It's the Caerwylan ( http://www.caerwylan.com/) situated near the sea front and a characterful Victorian building with great reviews on Tripadvisor and a well rated restaurant where we can have our Saturday evening group meal.

The only slight issue is that there is limited off road and private garage parking (small Welsh town!) which you will have to request when booking. Plenty of on road parking which I am personally ok using.

Rooms are going fast so please confirm to me that you are ok with this on ravifernandez@btinternet.com ASAP.

I have just booked mine and they don't take card details so you are safe for a while if you change your mind!
I have also booked a large garage for up to 3 cars which we can use - probably for those rare or expensive cars in the group :) First come first served...

Also, if you would really prefer something different there is plenty of other accommodation in town and nearby so please book and confirm as I won't have time today to do a wider search. You can find more options at visitwales.com.

Chris, that's hardly a WOTY when it's in our patch [;)][8|]- the idea of the WOTY is a tour type trip[:)]. Last year's sounded spot-on. How about the Lake District or Scotland's glorious roads? Happy Xmas,
 
Hi Combination of Peak district drive with Sunday visit to the R8 Chatsworth house annual event worked well in 2013 . Would be OK with a revisit adding some variety with different meeting point venues / hotel. Whilst retaining favourite of the afternoon scenic Snake Pass drive and R10 evening dinner. I guess Pikes Peak is a bit too far to go.. So my votes for central venue of the Peak district. http://youtu.be/r_ZXrue77D4 Manjit[;)]

Crying shame we can’t do Pikes Peak [:D][:D] - what a blast - would just love it!

Any more for any more? I was thinking North Wales, basing ourselves in or near Betws-y-coed and taking in the spectacular roads and scenery around Snowdon. I've done this a couple of times on road trips before and it was an absolute blast. The EVO triangle is nearby and Caernafon is a lovely town, castle and all. Ravi
 
Hi Ravi Wales would be great. Marian and I had a weekend in north Wales in 2012, we concluded it at Llandudno with Brendan Daly’s ‘Porsche’s on the Prom’ event, FYI this year’s event is on 18th May. There are two write-ups in the last months Porsche post from R19 & R7 about their welsh WOTYs. As you say great roads everywhere especially the road from Betws-y-Coed to Bala via the B4319 at Ffestiniog is a must imho. Regards Andy.

This sounds interesting, too - have been there many years ago, and it would be quite nice to stay in the hotel[;)]
