Our fabulous R10 European Weekend Of The Year tour to the ancient southwestern French town of Angoulême has been cancelled. The tour operator, Scenic Car Tours has offered us the chance to roll over our bookings to be used in until 2023, and we have all opted to do so.

Hotels in town are very limited because of all the 2020 rollovers, but accommodation outside may be found if you are interested.
Every September, Angoulême is filled with racing enthusiasts for the Historique Circuit des Remparts, the annual gathering of vintage and classic cars. You can read more in this link https://www.sceniccartours.com/angouleme, but in summary from Thursday 16th to Tuesday 21st September we will be following a standard tour offered by Scenic Car Tours, slightly tweaked if you join in with the recommended arrangements.
It’s a 600+ mile two-day drive there in your Porsche, arriving in Angoulême on the Friday; we will view the historic car rally and have leisure time on Saturday, watch the racing from grandstand seats on the Sunday, and start for home the next day.
The number of hotels in the Angouleme area is extremely limited, so if you wish to come along, you should book now to avoid disappointment.
Prices are as below, for which you will receive the following:
As the destination and the events there are the purpose of the trip, the drive down and back is largely by motorway, and the hotels are stopover points rather than being chosen for style and relaxation. However, there are options for the journey each way that can be discussed, once your commitment to join the trip has been given.
So if you wish to take part, please let me know as soon as possible, whether or not you are one of the 3 couples that is rolling over from last year, the other holding a voucher, or someone just now finding out about it.
The hotel rooms must be reserved urgently. Last week there were just 2 rooms available at the Appart’City and 3 at the Ibis, so if you delay, you will have to stay at an inferior hotel, or worse, be unable to join with us on this fabulous trip.
Please indicate your intentions by replying to this post on the forum, and also emailing me at mark.grimwood1@btinternet.com, ensuring that I have your telephone number for further contact.
I have more detailed information from Scenic Car Tours to share with you, once I hear of your interest. Meanwhile, please do not hesitate to ask me any questions if you have them. I will also be covering a bit more detail at the 14th January R10 Zoom meeting. I look forward to seeing you on screen!
