Pulsing revs

944 LIL

[]

Driving along well then suddenly suffered loss of power. Stopped at side of road - engine ticking over fine, but as soon as I depressed accelerator the revs pulsed - from idling to circa 2000rpm then back to idle then back up over and over again. No matter how hard the accelerator was depressed this is what happened.

Bless the old girl she made it home - buy putting it into 1st and accelerating at the biting point - going up through the gears quickly until the loss of power happened again - so free wheeled to a stand still then back to 1st....

Thoughts....

Having just been out in the 944 I would suggest checking for water where the DME lives first as a boat would have been a better form of transport.

Some easy checks that will need to be ruled out

damp or blocked air filter.

Clean connection to Air Flow Meter

Look for sparks around plug leads at night with engine running.

I would also look inside the distributor cap.......but its a pig to fit.

Try your spare DME relay.
