On Sunday 11th October Region 13 have been invited to visit the new premises of Prodrive, a world leading motorsport and technology company based near Banbury. They will give us a complete tour of the premises, and since this is a company operating 24/7, 364 days a year, we will be able to see assembly, machining etc. in progress, and some finished cars. Arrive at 10.30 am for an 11.00 am start.
Tea and biscuits on arrival.
Prodrive has been competing in the major global motorsport series since it was founded in 1984. You may recall their Porsche 911 SC and 959 rally cars back in the 1980s. Cars that they have prepared have won six World Rally titles, four British Touring Car Championships, four Le Mans titles, and numerous national rally championship titles. Today they run programmes for Aston Martin in the FIA World Endurance Championship and for MINI in the World Rally Championship, as well as a new programme for VW in the Chinese Rally Championship.. Prodrive, Banbury, Oxfordshire, OX16 4XD. www.prodrive.com. There is a charge of £20 per person, payable on the day in cash or by cheque, and we are limited to 30 people, so please advise Steve or Philip if you plan to join us.

I went a few years ago, it was very interesting indeed and I recommend it.
The image below is of a rally winning 911 that they prepared in the 1980s

Hi Steve,

If there's space and you don't mind having someone from another Region, I'd like to join you for the visit. I have a friend who may be interested in coming along too.

Jeff

Great news, they can accommodate us all, including the reserves.

BUT they are short of safety shoes (only 30 pairs) , so could anyone that has a pair please bring them along and wear them for the tour!

Please arrive no later than 11.00 am, we start with tea/coffee and biscuits, then the tour, which lats 3 hours max.

There is a map here: www.prodrive.com/#!contact/c1k00

It's the BANBURY location, not the one in Milton Keynes:

Prodrive, Chalker Way, Banbury, Oxfordshire, OX16 4XD

See you all there.

Great visit. Really enjoyed seeing how these guys operate.

Did I miss out on the collection of funds? I got halfway home before I realised that I still had a £20 note in my pocket.
Can I send a cheque? Or do you want to collect cash at the next club night?
