Hi folks

Just thought I would share some news from MY OPC with you so anyone ordering a new 991 doesn't fall into the same circumstances.

Placed a deposit down with my OPC in February for a Turbo Cab and because I want it a particular colour it has to go to Paint To Sample slot in July. Porsche however, have informed my OPC that as the car is outside the June delivery, it
now has a price increase of £2,111 to be slapped on it when delivered. Oh joy.

So, I can either tell them to 'go forth' and ask for my deposit back or else grin and accept the extra pain. I have e-mailed Porsche Cars GB to ask for their comment as this will be my 7th Porsche and I have been a good and loyal customer over the years.

So, be warned, make sure you get your cars delivered before end June to avoid the price increase, or at least check with your OPC's folks.

I know they have had a price rise mooted, this is the first confirmation I've heard though. Trouble is that has always been a caveat when putting in a deposit - they can change price at any time - it's in the small print as you probably know. Hope you get some help from Reading or your OPC though I wouldn't hold your breath. Maybe try and get an enhanced trade in price to help ease the pain. What colour is it btw? You've done well to get paint to order in a relatively short time, others have spoken of a one year wait.
 
Happened to me in 2010 when ordering my GT3RS, got hit with a price increase and a vat increase as well due to waiting on PTS.
Nothing new.

Sold my 997tt gen 2 turbo cab back in october of 2013 to opc
Ordered new turbo cab back in october of 2013 and was given 2k off new car
Took delivery in march of 2014 of new 991 turbo cab

Well, at least I'm not alone in this scenario so it would seem. To be fair to the salesman, he has worked his socks off to get the PTS slot and the heavily personalised interior and was very apologetic, although another salesman thought they should honour the deal
as signed back in February, so it would be a shame to walk away and ask for my deposit back now.
It is (currently) Peridot metallic with a black interior but with lime gold stitching to compliment the exterior colour. Spent over £10k on options, so just rankles to get slapped with extra £2111 at the drop of a hat.
C'est la vie...

Just seen your thread and this is an unfortunate situation although contractually sound. Porsche are going through a tough time at the moment with their GT3 problems, much of which has yet to surface, and they are not going to want someone pulling out of a contract for a car like your lovely highly specced Turbo S that will be one of their largest profit generators. I would ask your OPC for a £2111 discount on the car and if they initially refuse I would sit on it for a bit. Of course the contract allows them to increase the price but in the current climate they need to lose a bit of their arrogance. Its hardly helpful to have one of the salesmen pretending to be on your side either.
 
I don't think the GT3 engine problems are going to materially affect their bottom line, not with the Macan and Cayenne back-ordered as they are. Even if a GT3 engine is (say) £30k as a spare part, it costs nothing like that to make. Porsche will be keen to minimise the adverse publicity but I doubt the punters in China - soon to be their largest market - will care over much.

That said, the turbo was slow moving when I last spoke to my dealer about it and it was clear there was a deal to be done, especially if I was interested in one of the "frustrated sales" sitting at the dealership.

expensive cars are highly personally specified .. do they really want to risk having a highly personalised car as a stock car for the possibility of an additional £2000?
 
Hi,

I had a similar issue with my 991 order last year, the best I could do was to "split" the extra £1800 half-and-half between the OPC and me - that was my solution (if it helps).
