1985 Mini 1000 (25th Anniversary in Silver)
1986 XR2 - Freddie, the boy king of hot hatches. Still driving around Guildford.
1991 Metro GTI - needed 1 litre of oil per 500 miles. Used to get a free cup of tea from the garage that did it.

1987 Suzuki Santana 1300 - handled like a pig on a pogo stick and had all the wet weather capability of a partially erected tent at 60mph (plus BMW K100 RS)[:'(]

1990 Mercedes Cosworth 2.5 16v - fast, well made but dog leg gearbox did not endear along with lack of torque.
1980 Porsche 911 SC Sport- (black, looked evil, went well, smelt plain weird inside - mixture of old engine oil, strange plasticy niff, magic tree pong and something organic I know not what)[&:]
1993 BMW 525i auto SE - very well made, handled well and went OK (plus BMW K1 which I was nearly killed on after a 3.5 tonne lorry hit me - miraculaous escape with torn leather jacket, concussion and brsuising and an Arai helmet worn down to the inner fabric! Thanks someone 'upstairs'!)[8|]

Ok, I'll go by year of acquisition, and I will accept that I may not have the years 100% right!
1989 Ford Capri 1.6L 1982 X-plate. Gold with 2.8i pepperpot alloys - looked great, but broke down every other day.
1990 Rover 216 Vitesse 1985 B-plate. Silver, fab car but started to rust badly
1992 Ford Capri 2.0GL S-plate. Cost £200 (sold Rover to pay for holiday and needed wheels) - absolute rust bucket, no 2nd gear and steering was "vague" to say the least!
1992 Renault 5 GT-Turbo - D plate, air cooled. Absolutely fantastic fun, but v. unreliable and so expensive to repair. Stolen in Manchester.
1993 - 1995 - shared a Vauxhall Astra 1.3L D-plate (I think!) with my then girlfriend, dreadful car but served a purpose
1995 - 1997 - Borrowed a Rover 820i F-plate. Actually quite liked it! Very comfortable.
1997 - 1999 - Lotus Elan SE J-plate. Absolutely superb!!! Loved it. Until the 997S, the best car I've owned for pure pleasure without a doubt.
1999 - Saab 900 convertible 2.5 v6 SE N-plate I think- looked good, comfortable, but a bit dull (only had it 6 months, least time I'd owned a car since the S plate Capri!)
2000 - 2002 BMW Z3 2.8i W plate - 1st brand new car, I liked it although I know a lot of pundits pan it. Quite powerful, low, rear wheel drive, I though it was fun. Only real criticism was that it was quite uncomfortable on long drives, but that was the seats more than the ride. Personal import, paid £10k less than UK list, had it for 2 yrs and lost £300. Result!!
2002 - 2005 BMW 330ci convertible sport - the best all rounder I've owned. Great balance, build quality, engine, looks, practicality. Had everything. My mother-in-law bought it off me, and even now, I have a lump in my throat when I see it.

I'm not particularly well off, just wanted to indulge while I can i.e. when kids come along, it'll be an X5 or something similar on the drive. Having said that, I've had a reservation on a new M3 (the 4 litre V8) for 18 months, for delivery next year. Not sure whether to take it or not! I am being sucked in to the whole Porsche marque though.........the heritage etc.. The only thing that turns me off is that it's slowly being turned in to a mass brand - the exclusivity is being diluted. On the other hand, if I earn a promotion, maybe I'll have a Panamera(?) in 2008.
