you don’t need to go on a track to find out that the 981 has no real steering feel. it’s totally numb. It‘s obvious straight if you come from a car car with great steering like a hydraulically assisted Porsche. The 718 steering is an huge inprovement on the 981, although still nothing like a good hydraulic set up.

Richard,
The author stated he was looking for a 718, not a 981. He's also not concerned about the engine sound.
I'm not buying into the argument that 981 residuals will be stronger than 718 in the years to come. Current facts don't support this.
A well specced 718 is a better car than the 981 equivalent. I agree with Graham that you don't need to be on the track to appreciate this. On rural roads the 718 is simply miles better. More precise steering and improved suspension for a start.
The 718 is a brilliant car, with significant technology and infotainment advances compared to the 981.

Final decision has has been made , it’s going to be a nice spec 981 and I’ve been looking online at several options.Id like to go main dealer for the two year warranty but not tied to it .I have spotted a specialist and wondering if anyone here had had any dealing with them.they have several suitable cars in my budget, they are Cameron cars near Bath and seem to have a lot of expensive stock so could assume they are legit ?
cheers again for any help given to a newbie....
Just to note Cameron's or any other garage cannot give you a Porsche warranty unless the car they are selling in on SOR that way title passes to the new owner if there is still warranty on it .If you do buy one from said dealers you cannot add a Porsche warranty for 90 days and then it has to have a 111 point inspection at around £220 then if all ok a warranty you can then put on at a cost off approx. 2years inc assist £1600
