Porsche Festival Hot Laps

Apparently the GT3s are giving passenger rides around Brands on the Sunday.

Isn't that something we could do with Team Turbot?

I'd have thought people would be sick of seeing GT3's going round and would be looking for something else any way. [;)]

I guess we could, the turbo kick would be nice and impressive for the punters [:)] but going by previous events we won't be sober and should we be driving people around after 2 hours sleep?
Finally, the GT3 drivers dont like being overtaken [;)]

I think this could be part of the problem. Not my original thoughts, but I have to agree with another poster on this forum - no names but he owns perhaps the most powerful 944 in the country [;)] (currently). GT3's are a current model and it wouldn't look good for Porsche GB if cars 1/10 their value, and 15 years their senior, are seen to be as much fun. Personaly if feel it just demonstrates how good Porsche products are that a 15 year old car can be that much fun, but I fear I may be in the minority.

If the Turbots were allowed out at least they might have some cars available if it rained. [;)].

There was a GT3RS owner at Brunters who looked relieved when he spotted us removing slicks.
But then you can fit 4 wheels and slicks (not michelin, another potential issue) in the back of a 944.
Tony

So our proposal is:-

We use cars that have been out of production for 10 years or more, on non Michelin slicks, which might make some GT3's look a bit lame. You can just see that being welcomed with open arms. Or am I being cynical?

the parade laps have been slow to take up (bookings, thst is) - the GT3 boys have been very active in helping fill the gaps; other volunteers for hot laps are still required (anyone doing a parade lap is invited to take a passenger).
ALL parade laps will be with a pace car (the Carerra GT)

I have booked a parade lap with Martyn C (reg secretary). If you require cars for other hot laps there are a number of 944 trackday regulars who would offer their services. I would be willing to do so.

Just e-mailed my RO to book up for the parade laps on the assumption we are up for taking punters on "Hot Laps".

Silly old me! [8|] I've e-mailed Martyn C as well now.

It just goes to show that you need to read the instructions on the bit of paper....in the filing cabinet..........in the basement.................behind the door...................with the sign reading "Danger, Tiger!"

How I miss Douglas Adams.

Just to clarify, parade laps (£10 a session behind pace car) and hot laps (taking passengers around to demonstrate the awesome power and handling of the 944 turbo or GT3) are seperate. There is also a world record attempt early on Sunday morning to get the most porsches moving at one time on a race track.

With the stairs gone it would have been tricky to get down there anyway...[;)]

Wrong! Parade laps and hot laps are the same thing at the Festival...

Does this mean those on the GT3 register doing "Hot Laps" on Sunday & Monday are paying multiple £10 fees then Jeff?

I fear there must be some confusion hence the following post in the GT3 forum:-

"Peter, Thanks very much, you are confirmed for BOTH days.
We now have been asked for more GT3`s so the more the merrier, its a great chance to get some track time F.O.C. A RARE OPPORTUNITY THESE DAYS. "

Jeffs on the road at the moment (well, he was yesterday).
Might take him a while to be able to log in. Then maybe only briefly.

What will this prove exactly ?...lets hope no one brakes in the tunnel like Schumacher ![;)]

Could do with an explanation, certainly, as I can't see mention of GT3 parade laps on either day and all other Parade Lap slots are allocated.

If any Register numbers are short will groups be amalgated, to leave an open slot for GT3/944 hot laps?

It's only a few weeks away, so an explanation would help.....

cheers ....... Phil
