....... naughty I know................ but I couldn't resist posting this.

A little while ago I had a phone call to say one of our regions charactors has made the news in todays Lancashire Evening Post.

He was fined over £400 for speeding on Garstang Road. Tut Tut.

I must dash out and get a copy to get the details before I call him!!! [:)][:)]:ROFLMAO:

Aaargh! You've got my curiosity going now, and we're in away for a few days so I can't get the LEP and I don't know who the poor soul is.

The question is whereabouts on Garstang road did the offence take place. If it was north of Broughton and the speed was less than 60mph, with the exception of Billsborrow no real offence has been committed. The road was national speed limit, now it has stupid cycle lanes and an artificially low speed limit. Since the cycle lanes and the speed limit was introduced the accident rate has increased. The road has been made unsafe by do-gooders and the desire to fill green fields with houses.

This thread has got me all confused-all I know is that 2 lads always overtake me at breakneck speed, slow down for the radar, then peel off right at a roundabout south of Penwortham doing G-inducing speeds-no names -no pack drill but one car is rather similar to mine, with the better wheels.the other is clearly benefiting from a new engine:ROFLMAO:

Just a word of warning re speeding in this area, Did you hear the one regarding the young lad who got 4 years at Her Majesty's pleasure for doing 68mph along Garstang Road North of Preston ?.
The CPS decided not to take action against the Taxi driver that pulled out in front of him causing the accident !!!.

well, rather tragically, a young girl did die.

no winners there.

this is why that area was (still is?) patrolled by unmarked police cars...

Yes very true it was tragic, and I have the deepest sympathy with the ladies family and friends

I do however feel that the taxi driver was the winner in this situation.

More staff should be available so that the area is patrolled more often with that unmarked car.

Trust me, he wasn't. Broken man doesn't come close. Biggest tragedy of all is that if the girl had been wearing her seatbelt, she would still be here today. I now always wear a seatbelt in the back of a taxi, however many beers have taken their toll.
