Sat 8th October 2011National Porsche Coupe service clinic

Dear fellow members, just a reminder, apart from the message for the Porscheshop event (frontrunner), the ongoing Porsche Cars GB Ltd (FOC) service clinic is nationally running next Saturday, normally invitations derive from the database at the PC however if you wish to attend and there is a workshop lift/technician slot available at your local PC then please feel free to apply for a place.
Either call personally at your Porsche centre (PC), or to find your nearest by postcode vist www.porsche.com or telephone national Porsche helpline 08457 911911.
NB Of course I cannot guarantee you a place but the event and the winter health/general inspection for your Porsche is detailed, worth @ £200, and you can Q&A your Technician/service advisoron your Porsche, and a quotation normally raised and presented on the day if anything is deemed unsatisfactory and hence the cost of correcting same quoted prior to departure, refreshments and hospitality noramlly provided, a good interesting workshop and showroom visit to your Centre, please do not bring your chequebook in case you come home with a GT2RS!

Best regards

Hi Johnny,

Just wanted to thank you. I missed this last time.

Made sure I booked it in. Hope I don't get any bad news!!!

Good point, is there anything a should specifically ask them to check. The car is in fine working order except for a random fuel smell.

Only if there is something specific you are concerned about.

I don't want to go OT but where is the fuel smell coming from?

A bit random, did a few miles today and no smell of fumes coming. Not sure if the really hot weather on that day had anything to do with it. But will monitor. Thx

Ahh ok cool. You shouldn't really smell when moving it if it's at the engine end, and you would notice a stained patch from the leak although it evaporates quickly. If it was in the car going through the vents you could check the tank and fuel fuel lines at the front end - it's just a case of removing the battery tray cover and battery + tray and you can access them.

Anyway I will shut up now :)

Hi C&T

Sure your car will pass with flying colours, enjoy the event, hopefully see you for a caffe latte macchiatto, Gary advises myself that a good comprehensive day is planned for visitiorsand PCGB members alike and we can communicatel with the technicians on a 1 to 1 basis with and during the inspections, plus the bodyshop and showroom open for members to visit and enjoy along with the noram PCGB/PC Cambridge 996 Register/general PCGB hospitality.

It is Denise's 50th tomorrow but I can hopefully travel over for a while and pour you a coffee with your all clear inspection report, if anything at all is wrong you can pour mine..I bet I end up doing the pouring!

Best regards to all PCGB members and 996 Register members alike, please enjoy the Porsche national Coupe clinics and Porscheshop PCGB Frontrunner event tomorrow.

Booked my 996 into Porsche Center Bournemouth. They were full, but offered to squeeze me in at the death, 2 pm. So hats off to my local Center for being so accommodating. Looking forward to seeing what my next Porsche might be.

Thanks to all the staff at Cambridge OPC Saturday morning.
Car was given a virtual clean bill of health [:)]
My Battery was not a Porsche battery oh dear but a brand new bosch one.
which was given a clean bill of health.
Oh and my brake fluid was a tad over full after a recent 48k service nothing to worry about, just goes to prove how thorough they check the cars out.
Nice to know its all good.
Once again many thanks.
Cliff.

+1 for thanks to the staff at Cambridge.
There was good news and not much bad news!
Basically a good bill of health, RMS was OK[:D]

Feedback on my visit to West London. (More details to follow on my running report)

Really impressed by the service at West London.

Went round the car and found some things that I was not aware of:

1) Tiny leak on gearbox sump. (quoted £400)
2) Moisture detected on front rad (Did not get a quote)
3) Rear pads low
4) Screw found on corner of rear tyre (my pockets are now £450 lighter)

I had to buy two new tyres as a result.

Any one want to buy a part worn Bridgesone SO2 N2 285/30 18 tyre (The one without the screw)

Spent an hour on the car and there was no hard sell. Will defo go again if offered
