Hi,

Happy New Year to all!

I am after a Porsche 968 - Cabriolet (must be a manual), please contact me through this site - or email me @ mdscltd@ymail.com

I am a mature private buyer, good money for 'right' car. Many thanks

Copied to the porsche968uk.co.uk forum for you, the best place for 968 help - as the 968 forum on here is a bit moribund. Shame you say it must be a manual, as my tip cab in Tahoe Blue is still for sale on Autotrader (he's asking too much for it!). Personally I think the tip box suits the cab as it's more a relaxed cruiser, i had a tip coupe for 12 1/2 years and the tip cab for 8 1/2 years! Suggest you register on porsche968uk, it's a superb place for help on all things 968 - there's a specific "How to register" on the forum home page.

Thanks for the lead to the 968 site (did not know this existed!), sorry but I am after a manual car not a tip!

Keep em coming[;)]

You prefer a manual until you hit the downhill from the top of a pass in the Picos, where we took the cab a few years ago. Coming away from the top I saw a 20Kph speed limit sign and wondered why - took about 1/4 mile to find out, without the tip gearbox my left leg would have been screaming for mercy before we got to the bottom!! This does not mean you can't get leary with the car, as you can. Also the box is clever, if you're in manual mode and forget to tap the stick foot flat, you hit the rev limiter and it changes up for you. Equally, if you forget to change down braking for a roundabout or whatever, you'll not be left stationary in too high a gear for pulling away (as happened to me on a test drive of a BMW M3 Evo steptronic, with nearly massive consequences) as the box will change down to 2nd where you can pull away easily! I love the tip box on the 968!! There's also something about driving a tip in manual mode but still playing with the gearstick without having to mess with the clutch pedal - try one!!

Many thanks for the info (appreciated). I have however, 'clocked' all these cars.

FYI I have approached two of the sellers and I await a reply (Bank Holidays and the Weekend has not given them a chance, as yet).

I totally agree with you and your price analysis, the one priced @ £26k is very 'rich?' - let us see what they say. I do think some Classic Car Garages really try it on. I sold a car to a trader 2 years ago for £19k the following day, they had it for sale for £29,999 (it was at the time the most expensive car/model of it's type in the UK), I believe it sold for £25K a week later...the new owner thinking they had a secured a great deal!

I also appreciate your offer of help, perhaps you could PM me your email/mobile?

Keep em coming!:p

I've got an Amazon Green Manual Cab coming up for sale. very low owners, pale grey interior. I bought it from the first owner who originally had it as a company car, all docs are present including original order form etc.

Let me know if you are interested and I can send over some pics and more details.

All the best

Hi Shropshire Lad,

I have sent you a reasonably summary of our 968 for sale and by virtue of this post you should see the car?

More photo's on request.

Kind Regards
