Porsche 944 soft top hard to close

I have a 944 convertible, the top has gone hard and has shrunk slightly which makes it difficult to close, I have tried a lot of different cleaners and conditioners without success, when it is wet it closes. Any ideas on how to stretch it or soften the material to allow it to stretch or is the only answer to replace it.
