Porsche 944 Plate Values

As our Porsche 944's continue to increase in value so do the plates that go on them [:(]

I asked the DVLA to put the registration E944 POR into auction and yesterday was the day of the auction with a reserve of £250.00. I thought it would be a nice cheap plate for my 944 Turbo S.... that was until the bidding started!!

It sold for £700.00 plus fees = £987.20 [:-]

I know it's not crazy money for a Porsche plate, but 5 years ago POR 944T sold for the same price

personally a plate like that has no value .. 944 POR would be great, the E in front makes it worthless, same goes if the E was the last digit as these give a recognisable date..I accept that this is just my personal taste but I would never buy a plate like that, I don't know why..it just kind off cheapens the car....if that makes any sense... If the car came with that plate which is very possible then that's fine, to add it is crazy...

Interesting. My S2 already wore ODZ 944 when I bought it...quite nice, even though ODZ doesn't spell anything! Wouldn't bother to buy a plate like this, but I do have the original paperwork, and it was the same order of cost. That would pay for the annual service etc....

I managed to get KMN944P for my S2 (mine's an IOM plate mind not DVLA) for £100.

The Govt released a new batch of "MANX" plates last year - MANX followed by a 3 digit number. They want £10k (ten) for MANX944. If money were no object I'd have it of course, but it just makes me think of the old joke about doubling the value of a Skoda by sticking a tenner in the glovebox[:D]

My 1990 944T was the Porsche GB demo car and wore the plate 94 FOR. It's had a few plates since and now sports XIA 44 bought for £600 a couple of years back.

That made me think. Unusual, I know!

Back in the day Porsche used THE as their press car prefix. I know I saw THE 928S and THE 924S,
but did they ever do THE 944S? And, what happened to those plates?

XIA 44 is a nice reg.

I have RIA 944 on my recently acquired grey 944.

Hoping to have the car fixed up and back on the road before Christmas!

I'm in the same position, awaiting a widefire head gasket from the States. Damn that increased boost! Might have to sell the plate to fund the rebuild [:(]

E944 POR is a nice period plate for a 944T so I understand Martin's view, many moons ago I had a 911SC with MIA 911 as its original Reg from Agnew's in Belfast.

I have just switched my plate 944 STV from my 2.5 N/A onto the Turbo but it has been on so many different vehicles over the last 25 years I have lost count. But if its any consolation I had to pay £1k for it way back in 1989. Pau can you te me any more about the Turbo display at the National event do I need to buy normal entrance ticket?

THE 924S and THE 928S are both on retention.

THE 944S is on a 2001 BMW 318i Touring
Thanks, wonder if Porsche kept them. And why THE 944S ended up on a BMW! [8|]

I just missed The 944S plate a few years ago after being away on holiday, would still like it Mr BMW ??

Personally I just don't get the personal plate thing.i don't think it adds anything to a car. Unless your trying to hide its age.

I've had my personal plate (MRM 3P) for over 25 years and it has transferred from my everyday car to next car in that time. It's my initials and my friends locally knows it's my car [:D]

i was was lucky enough to get MRM 3N and MRM 3R from DVLA auctions for not a great amount of money so I have a nice set of 3.

I even bought MA15 EEM for my daughter (Maisie) but as she's 5 it will be a few years before she can use it.

I would like have liked a 944 plate for my car but I won't pay silly money to get it. Ideally POR 944T but the owner as we know Colin isn't selling it (yet) [:(] or E944 POR would have been nice but not at £700.
