Having nearly sold the S2 cab a few months back, I decided it needed to stay, and have put it to good use on the recent nice weaether However the problem I experienced before has come back, it suddenlty starts to "miss" and cough - although turning the ignition off and restarting it, makes the problem go away. it just last 5 - 10 seconds then its back to normal.

A long shot but this maybe an ignition key/cylinder problem - do you have a large/heavy keyring or lots of keys on your keyring? Extra weight can cause a misalignment in the key cylinder and affect the electrical connections.
I mention this because I was having a problem when starting where the car would barely run IF I let go of the key before the engine was fully fired up (e.g. let go just as it was catching often would have a problem). I don't know why but maybe a dme circuit or something was not properly energized.
The fact your symptoms are cleared by turning the key off and starting again suggest there may be a problem there.

They are the exact symptoms I had on my Lancia HPE iE 20 years ago, fine then run rough, may stall, if it does won't restart straight oof but give it 5 min and it was ok again - that was the FPR.
Fuel pressure when checked was 3.0B rising slowly to 6 or 7 B and then diving straight down to 1.0 or less.

I believe the ignition amplifier in the front wing can cause such problems... I had a problem with mine that caused me to change it - it would just randomly cut out - car would die... wait a while and it would restart. In my case it turned out to be a mix up of old and new DME relays, but this could be something worth looking at... when it plays up, feel the temperature of the heat sink it is mounted on - it should be hot, but not burn your fingers hot! (I really must measure the temperature whilst it is running right for future reference!).
