Hi, it seems that there is some excess play in my steering (964 C4). When driving on the motorway this windy weekend, it was very scary as when correcting from cross-winds and dips on the motorway, it means it's too easy to over-correct with scary consequences. Plus it also means you've the steering wheel straight, but the play allows the wheels to move that little bit. Its fine under 70/80 mph, any faster and it's not nice, and I mean really really not nice.
It's totally fine on A and B roads, mainly I suppose 'cos the steering wheel is being used beyond the excess play, if you know what I mean.
Could it be the bushes? Any advice/help/knowledge would be much appreciated before I take the car to a specialist etc.
cheers.
