[FONT=courier new"]My Carrera GT started smoking and Strasse in Leeds have extracted the pistons and found two are sh_gged! Any ideas as to where I may find some. They are marked KS 086++090 and believe they are standard 86.5mm. Do you know if they are the same on the 924 Turbo.[FONT=verdana,geneva"]
 
KS most probably refers to Kolbenschmitt or ....schmidt. The 92mm barrels on my 1835 cc twin weber'd beetle were Kolbenschmitt so they are a reputable manufacturer of pistons etc. All the pistons listed on PET are Mahle and there is only one reference to the engine type M31/50 (carrera GT) and that is for piston rings. M31/03 (931) is listed in the piston references so taking an educated guess that would be a no, even though the C/R is the same at 8.5 :1
 
Great to see a fellow GT owner out there but sorry to read of your problems. The pistons do have the same compression ratio as the Turbo, but I would check their interchangeability by enquiring from one of the following:
· Gantspeed: (http://www.gantspeed.co.uk) I believe they rebuilt a black GT some years ago and restore the older marques.
· Dave Botterill: (http://www.dbracing.org.uk) He races a GT and I think his car is serviced by Strasse. They must do a regular rebuild in the season.
