Pirelli PZERO ROSSO N4's

Anybody have these fitted, have seen these advertised for £191 per inc vat, fitting and balance.
Whats the form on grip, wear and noise ?

I have Rosso's front and Rear

Very good dry grip....IIRC somebody else posted that they had THE best dry grip.

They have been fine in the wet but I am new to the Porsche so I have no comparison other than my S2000. I could get the backend out in damp conditions in the S but the Porsche seems more planted and stable at similar speeds on the Rosso's.....that could be the car though [;)]

£191 is a great price (I assume that's rears?)

They also look very [8D]

Cheers [:)]

I've got them on my Carrera 4. Just about to change the rears after 14,000 miles. My previous cars, 993 and Boxster S, were fitteed with Michelins and Bridgestones. They have all been good with similar mileage although I rate the Pirellis as the best. Are they not only available as Assimetrico? Price is also extremely competitve, the best I have been quoted is £209.51 each all inclusive.

993 wise[ rs/ rsr /and GT2] best all round road and track day tyre wet and dry[of course there are better pure track day tyres ] but for all round these are even relatively long wearing.......................had some since they arrived in UK [NOT JUST ONE SET!]

Since u r in East Mids, give Hutchinson Motorsport a try for prices.

Also try Tyres Northampton in (you guessed it) Northampton. Many local Porsche guys use them, they know how to treat your wheels without damaging them, are very keen on pricing and are open to haggling on price [:D]

Vorland, Do you know what Size that was at the £170, I'm presently looking for some Conti sport 2 for the rear (as thats whats on the car).
I'm new to Porsche ownership, so what is peoples opinion of the Continentals? I have no problems with them from my experience.

Cheers Garyw

Hi Garyw,

Well I had Conti's on my Boxster, 964, 993 Coupe and 993 Targa because they were already there and just replaced with that tyre make.

In my opinion they were fine but I never tracked my car so I expect there would be some better feedback from the rest of the owners here.

Hi,
I've fitted Pirelli Rosso N4s on my previous 996 (Coupe / Tiptronic). Great Grip! but they last just 11,000 miles. By the way, I've bought them from ATS Euromaster in Reading (Berkshire) for £679 (full set of 4) in 2002. On the same car I experienced Bridgestone N3 and Michelin N1. Bridgestone last well but were very hard, Michelin were great, good grip / good comfort. I part-exchanged the car after 4,000 miles on the Michelin. So I can't tell how long they last.
Currently on my 2003 996 Cabriolet / Manual, from delivery I've got Continental tyres and they are very good and last well. Already more than 15,000 miles on them.
All the Best,
Fab

With my Conti's I have done only 6000 miles and the rear are shot. Inside edge completely gone! I have had a Geometery check and all is well, Someone suggested tyre pressure but that would surely take out the outside edge?

What mileage do you get from your tyres?

Cheers Gary

I have got Conti's on my 4S and I think they are a good road tyre (good wet and dry grip, progressive break away, road noise not an issue because of the sport exhaust!), but a drive course at Bruntingthorpe affected them badly.

Don Palmer who took the course and sees a variety of cars reckons that the Conti's are quite susceptable to overheating and throw chunks off when very hot. Mine cetainly picked up some bad cuts in the treads (although they had a lot of abuse).

For what it is worth, he reckoned the Michelin option stands up to this a lot better, and this would seem to be agree with my experience of wear on my Boxster.

I would look at changing the full set, but the fronts look to be brand new, seems a shame when I can still get tyres to match. If the pattern etc changed then I think maybe a full set would be in order. But to be fair the grip they have given I'm well happy with, but this is only road use.
Cheers All Gary

What pressures do people run on N4's?

I have them all round on 18in wheels.....could anybody let me know the cold temps

Thanks

Beno
