Pipe Polishing

Hi

The finish on my Boxster' s exhaust pipe is now a bit tarnished but not too pitted, and I' ve tried Autosol but it only improved it a little. Anyone have any other tips for bringing up a bit of a shine on my tailpipe?

Alternatively I could fit one of the stainless tips advertised in most of the Porsche mags, but not sure if this involves welding it on...

Any help will be appreciated

Cheers

i' ve got the same problem.
i think the stainless steel bit is the only solution.i understand they clip on.
just haven' t been able to talk myself into paying that much for something thats just cosmetic.

so i' ve learnt not to look.[8|]

If Autosol doesn' t bring it up nothing will! Have you tried it with a piece of Scotchbrite or very fine wire wool?

JCB..

Will try the wire wool and then another blast with the Autosol, by then I should' ve worn my fingers down to the stumps!!!!

If that doesn' t work I' ll try Helen' s approach.....[8D]

Cheers

If you use it like a you do polish ie when you have removed the crap if you run the wool or scotchbrite in a straight line it will produce a better finish.

I presume you mean the Autosol, as opposed to Helen' s pheasant!!! [;)]

I' ll have to make sure I don' t get Autoglym and Autosol mixed up...

Thanks for the tip

i used autosol on mine with wire wool and a dremel like thingy as i was getting shorter fingers by the minute!

here is one result

let us know how you get on,if it works i might have a go at my 2,3/4 year old grime on my exhaust pipe. or is that expecting too much.?[X(]

Wow!! Nice one Dean - that' s some polishing!! Spectacular result mate...

Will let you know how I get on, though you know it will be bad if I have to change my signature to Stumpy Knuckles... Anyway I' m off to Halfords 2moro to stock up on Autosol and wire wool, then Sainburys for a couple of cases of Red Bull to keep me going...

Will take before and after pictures and post them here if there' s any difference....

Cheers

cheers

took me about an hour! - give it a once over all over with the autosol and wire wool! - (tip wear rubber gloves mate) - and then leave the autosol to dry in and losen up some of the ground in dirt! - i then went over it all again with wirewool and then fired up the black and decker polishing tool ive got!

hey presto!
