Totally agree - multichanger is a waste of money - either MP3 discs or use the ipod link/SD card option. I use the MP3 cd route in my 997 and it suits me perfectly (plus, when I want to listen to something else I can change the disc from inside the car while driving and have a further 10 albums each time!)

A very good friend of mine (despite not being a Porsche fan) just moved in Mazères near "Castelnau-Riviere-Basse", between Toulouse and Pau... Beautiful part of France, might go and visit him for half term - end October. He moved there last year full time and seems to have taken to the French lifestyle...

as i have said before -this has been my experience[

as a result i have not taken the car to france but avoided it by driving down thru germany instead or flown/used railways.(which are not under the power of les flics!)shame,as i used to enjoy driving to holiday destinations thru france,but thanks to aggressive guntoting blueboys no more!!(my wife was so upset by the 2 experiences we had she refuses to go by car anymore.)or is it that she can read more magazines on the train!![]

The other choice which I did is to buy a 'Coyotte' detector.

As radar detectors are illigall in most of mainland Europe, this is an interactive GPS wich has in memory all the permanent radar sites & most of the sites where police is known to hide for their 'duck ' shooting... The main advantage of this unit is that users can "at the touch of a button" on the unit, register the position of a roadside polioce presence so that within seconds their position is registered for other users.
In their latest newsletter they advised they were going to cover the whole of Europe.

Hey, to put things into perspective ; it's still way better driving over here than in Blighty (providing you don't speed too much) better roads by far, all of which (round here anyhow) have great views and are punctuated with fabulous restaurants! For faster days out I use Nogaro and Pau Arnos circuits - track days at least once a month for around 100 euros a full day ............ . Anyhow the other drivers are really good at warning you of impending doom with the flash of a headlight which assists the old Coyote plus so on balance I'm not complaining at all !

You have all convinced me re: the multichanger. You will have to forgive me for being dim - how do I go about the MP3 route? What do I need to buy? And will that connect to the PCM?
As for the BBerry issue, am taking it to the OPC today to "reprogramme" so will report back as to whether it works.

Dan, You don't need to buy anything apart from a blank CD! That's the beauty of it. Something for nothing.
Load the music CD you want to copy into your computer, save it as an MP3 file format.
Do the same for as many as you wish.
Make a library of the tracks you wish to record to your MP3 CD (the blank one). You can use Windows Vista for this or other 3rd party software. Best if you are online to copy track names/CD covers etc.
Copy those files to your blank CD until it is full.
PCM will play this CD and display the titles if you copied them from the Internet as requsted by Vista.
If you get stuck with the bluetooth/Blackberry issue, this product, or at least the company that sells it might be of use. Just came across this whilst looking for updated sat nav CDs for my PCM 2 - I don't have personal experience of either.
For what its worth my blacberry curve has paired with the bluetooth on my Audi A5 with no trouble at all. I would think that Audi's audio technology is not too dissimalare to that of Porsche's . I hope so as I am taking delivery of my Gen 2 C2S cab in October and do need the bluetooth option.

I've just done this and it's a great idea. the only issue I found is that, regardless of how I arrange the files in the PC folder, they come out on the CD in a certain order that bears no relationship to how I converted and saved them, the artists or the albums.
Anyone have any idea what happens?
