PCGB Race Meetings in 2009

I'll definitely be there to watch at Oulton and maybe Donny and Silverstone. The Porsche vs Ferrari round should be interesting.

I'll be supporting the Goose in his 964 in the class 1 races of course [;)]

Steve -- if you could slow 'the goose' down a bit it would help me a lot!! what would it take ?? [:D] [:D] [:D]

He's very fond of the wife's cakes so I'll feed him a few extra for you! [;)]

IIRC you started in the open class last year - are you moving to class 1 this year?

Yes, Class 1 in Club it is -- I have a mountain to climb to be competitive -- looking forward to it.

All the very best for the season Paul. I'm sure you'll have a great time. As a supporter on the outside I've seen what a friendly series it is with some great, close racing. The highlight for me last year was seeing Ian white (accidentally [;)]) nudging the Goose's rear end down cascades at Oulton! I think he was trying to tell him to hurry up because the 968s were quickly catching up with them [:D]

I'll come an look you up at the RS day in March [:)]

Hi Paul, as said elsewhere I will be aiming to come along that day. It will be a historic weekend for me as I will dropping my S2 of with my brother that weekend to start its rebirth into a race car.

10 days until the first PCGB races on Sat 4th at Donington -- there will be 2 Club races that day plus qualifying, so it will be full of Porsche action.

Drop by and say hello in the paddock -- and for any Porsche fans under the age of 12 I have an A3 poster to give away at that event -- I say get them hooked young!

What time does it all start Paul?

It looks like I'll be able to get away this weekend without even having to ask for a pass!!

Lali.
Quali is at 9-45 for 15 mins.
Races,,
13-30 for 30 mins ,,, and,,,, 17-20 ,, 30 mins again...
The rest of the racing is from the MG car club...+ Morgans...
Hope to see you there....
PS bring the fine weather....[:D][:D]

lali - hi, wot no pass required! (whoops I see bigdave beat me by 1 minute to answer!! and sandwiched behind as well)

here goes anyway:

Our quali starts at 9.45 for 15 minutes (all the qualis take from 9:00 to 11:30)

Our Race 1 is at 13:30 for 30 minutes & Race 2 is at 17:20 also for 30 minutes.

Nb there are 10 races in all -- starting at 11:40am and finishing around 18:30pm

Quick Report on my race:

Qualified with a 1' 23.9, which was within my target. 12th on the grid. Well the racing got off to a slow start, lost some places but clawed about 4 back until half way through the first race-- I then had a bit of space ahead so started to push on & over cooked it through Craners -- yes, I slipped off towards the inside of the track and got beached in the gravel just before the old hairpin! Lack of talent exposed & race over!

Car appeared OK but on clearing all the stones out we found one under the cam cover AND it had almost cut through the whole of the cambelt - not enough time, skill or spare parts on hand to change it - not prepared to run the risk, so ended up missing the 2nd race! Not a great start - it can only get better!

Missing Anglesey on 18th/19th -- so my next race is Brands on May 30th -- drop by if you can.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

Paul,

Onwards and upwards! At least you and the car survived to race another day. I am sure it was not a lack of talent that caused your off, more like a pesky gust of wind, or a bit of coolant from another car. Good luck for Brands.

Peter - thx.

(looking on the bright side I was well inside my budget on tyres and fuel!)

How are you getting on with your events?

I had practice day at Harewood last week and got a good 10 runs in. I broke my hill record which I am really pleased about. The next event is on Sunday so I am hoping for good weather. There is also a new bit of competition in the form of a Ferrari 360!

After the next event, a rebuild of the rear suspension is required and another wheel alignment.

Bad luck Paul but still good experience all the same. From the looks of the results from the first round there's no need to fear the arrival of the 993s this year..the 968s are still as competitive as ever.

All the best for the next outing at Brands [:)]
