PCGB or PCI

PCGB or PCI.
They are both official clubs, however the PCGB also has a region covering Ireland. (the island of, I assume, not just the North)

Has anyone got any unbiased opinions or experience of either, or, both organisations? Is there merit in joining both? Why are there two, or is it just politics again?

The answer to the question is probably both. !
the P.C.G.B. has about 16000 members and the monthly magazine porsche post, delivered to your door is worth the membership fee alone.
If you are purchasing stuff of the web ,ie; from porsche shop you will also get discount for being a pcgb member.
Many trackdays in the uk are members only, if you are into that sort of thing.

P.C.I. has about 200 members, a bit of a difference, but i suspect this is the one you are more likely to be involved in.
P.C.I. run many events over the year ,trackdays ,trips ,dinner. etc etc.
the sub to P.C.I. is about 60 euro ,not exactly expensive and well worth the crack.

As i said both are well worth joining.

By the way, nice 993 turbo. Where do you get it serviced, Belgard or an independent?

been a member of both for a few years now, on my third porsche, had a boxster 's', sold it and bought the 993 turbo, just recently bought a chayenne 's' ( FOR THE WIFE !!!!!! ), talk about chalk n cheese.
I get the 993 serviced by a guy called howard langridge in straffan, co kildare, his number is 01 6279467, he is a genuine enthuiast and is very reasonable.
the chayenne is still under warranty so i get it serviced by agnews in belfast as that is where it came from,
what howard dont know about porsches aint worth knowin , almost all the pci guys ger their cars serviced by him.

I know this is kinda off thread, but regarding independent Porsche servicing and maintenance in Dublin -

I know Howard and he's a great guy, but if getting to Straffen is a pain in the butt (as it is for me) the guy I use is called Barry Whelan, 01 453 7224.

He's located off the South Circular Road, beside the Grand Canal. His operation builds a lot of Porsche Race Cars (you can usually see him at tracks around Ireland and the UK with several of his cars whenever there's a Porsche meet), but he also does general service work. Knowledgeable, reasonable and reliable!

Ok. Thats the PCGB membership sorted as you can see from the new details on the left. No word from PCI yet, but then again I did that one by post.
