PAS Pump pressure transmitter?

Morning everyone. On my '87 944S there is a screw-in electrical connection on the underside of the power steering pump.

PET lists it as a 'pressure transmitter' - 944.606.209.00.

Due to it's location, mine is broken and the wires can no longer plug into it- what are the affects of this? Does it alter the pump pressure in some way?
