Parts Required - Any Help?

My '90 C4 is undergoing some extensive resto/bodywork fulfilment. Typically the more it's taken apart the more is uncovered. Making the effort to do this properly and not cut corners but prioritising the must haves from nice to have at the same time.

Couple of main items identified and hoping some good condition ones surface with any help or pointers (ahead of me calling round the different PP adverts). First off for now are the big items below...

• Rear bumper reinforcement [964 505 020 00] - the thick alloy cross member the bumper bolts to
• Right hand - off/side front wing
• Bumper heatshield [964 505 083 01] - the flat shield that sits behind/under the rear centre reflector
• Bumper heatshield [964 505 073 01] - the large shield that sits between the alloy crossmember and the primary muffler

Also, any idea where or why I am getting water ingress in each of the cabin footwells? New door seals and front bonnet seal fitted couple of years ago and no sun roof... a puzzling one as nothing obvious or no drips from the air con (wouldn't explain the rear damp sound deadening either).

I got water ingress for two reasons. Firstly water was sneaking past the bonnet seal even though I fitted a new one. This was caused by the after market bonnet lifters I put in. They were too strong which meant that the bonnet was being forced upwards when closed and not making proper contact with the seal. After rain I found water on the plastic scuttle near the windscreen. This was then making its way inside the car.

Secondly when I had the windscreen replaced I found the famous rust under the screen which no doubt meant that water was getting in there too.

Another thing to check with the bonnet is that all the washers on the bolts that clamp it to the hinges are present. These are important to how the bonnet sits when closed. There should be 8. Four flush to the bolts and four between the hinges and the bonnet. The latter had been thrown away when mine had a repaint many years ago. They act as spacers so you are best to get the original ones. Part number 900 151 008 02. They're 65p each.

Hi try Simon at porsch-apart for parts, check for screen leaking, the water will travel from front to back. I use a ultrosonic sound generator to check for leaks and wind noise seems to work well for some leaks and useles for others. Try looking inside while someone puts a hose round the screen! Berny.

Glad this was brought up as I was going to 'upgrade' the bonnet stays/struts with something more heavy duty (e.g. Volvo replacements).

I have already bought a pair of new hinges Steve as the old ones were drilled out to what appears with the intention to make the bonnet fit further up.

Water ingress I reckon will require a bit more CSI approach me thinks...

I had thought about removing the struts and putting the RS prop version in but after reading around the consensus of opinion is that the steel bonnet is way too heavy to be supported by it and should only be used on aluminum bonnets, like the RS has.
