Panamera 2015 diesel heating fault

Hi,

was wondering if anyone can help,

My Panamera has an intermittent fault with the hot air blower. No hot air will come out of vents when requested. Air con works. Then a fee weeks later, hot air comes back? It’s been doing this for around a year. Any help appreciated.

Michael,

Michael,

To be honest it could be any number of things as the HVAC systems in this type of vehicle can be quite complex. These range from low AC gas, low engine coolant, perforated hoses /pipes, corroded / blocked condenser units, bad thermostat, faulty blend door actuators, dirty cabin air filter, HVAC control unit malfunction, faulty temperature sensors etc, etc. I suggest you start with a good look round and check your coolant level. Also, check when the AC gas was last serviced and weather or not it is due. You could also try and inspect the air filters. If all of the above check out, when was the last time you had your battery checked out? As a 2015 model, the battery is now 7+ years old and Panamera’s are noted for being particularly sensitive to battery condition.

It might also be worth reading up on some of the forums such as Rennlist and 6SpeedOnline for additional support. You mention that the problem is intermittent so it could be a sticky diverter flap or actuator. Failing that, you will need to ask your local OPC or independent specialist to have a look as its could be any number of things as I’ve already mentioned.

Hope this gives you some pointers and that you manage to get it sorted. Let me know how you get on.

Best regards,

Randall

Hi Randall,

so sorry it’s take me so long to reply! I’ve been working out of the country for months. Thanks for your reply.
Ive still not got to the bottom of this issue. In fact my car has been in a local Porsche specialist for another fault. I’m not having much luck.
Car started going into limp mode on acceleration, "coil” symbol coming up on dash. Upon restarting engine, fault would clear. I could drive for miles gently but as soon as I accelerated it would go into limp mode. Garage not hot round to looking at it yet, but said it could be low pressure fuel pump in tank? I need to touch base with garage as he has had my car for 2 months !

Hi Michael,

Sorry to hear that your car is still in need of some TLC. Not what you wanted to come home to.

I'm sure your local Porsche specialist will get to the bottom of the issues you are experiencing. They tend to be pretty good and by the sounds of it seem to be pretty busy too. Yes, fuel starvation could be problem and could be as simple as a blocked filter but I'm confident the Independent will sort it out for you. I would still consider a battery heath check though, especially if it hasn't been driven much recently.

Let me know how it goes. If you continue to have issues, DM me or join our WhatsApp group. Link to this is on our register landing page here, but remember to login first.

Welcome back!

Randall

Thanks Randall,

I'm going to give my Porsche specialist another few weeks. If he fails to get to it, I have no option but to take to my main dealer (South Lakes). I’m just concerned about the potential cost. I think I recall them saying in the past to disgnose is £90/hr and could be up to 3 hours. So nearly £300 just to tell me whats wrong with it! I’ll keep you updated. Not only is my heating intermittently faulting but my rear spoiler is not sitting flush on one side either ?????. I may get back in touch for spoiler advice once I get my car back.

Michael - keen to know if you got this sorted? My diesel has a coolant leak - "leaking from the V" is apparently a common issue with the Audi diesel engine used in several models, including the Panamera. It's not enough to leak on to the ground, but it can be seen on the bottom of the engine and the cover. Mine's going in next week for a repair, but in the meantime, the heating sometimes doesn't work until I've driven the car for a good 10/15 mins - could be linked?

Hi Darryl,

I never got to the bottom of it and don’t know if the problem still exists. My car has been off the road since July and only got it repaired a few days ago. Long story but local specialist had my car for 5 months with suspect fuelling problem (going into limp mode). After getting fed up I found a specialist called D and G Porsche near Newcastle who fixed it in a week. A fuel injector was stuck open. I’ve heard a poor battery can cause all sorts of issues? Hope you get yours sorted. Where you based?? Don’t use main dealer.

I have a PCM fault where it keeps rebooting and tried the manual reset but not worked. I’m going to install the latest software to see if that cures it. Let me know how you get on 👍🏻
