Oulton Park Trackday

Seriously though Paul,
The chap in question was a mad keen motorsport nut, who knew every bend at Oulton by name, evan though he had never been round the circuit before.Usually,if I take a passenger, I take it fairly steady for a couple of laps to ensure they are happy. After I had plodded round a couple of times, it was he who said can we go a bit quicker!!
To therefore oblige, we put a couple of reasonable laps in and he just went very quiet, which I assumed he was just enjoying him self!
As we apexed Island bend at just under a ton, he kindly informed me he was going to "throw"and could I pull over!!!!! Not only was he in my pride and joy but he was wearing my helmet as well.
Luckly I got his head out, seconds before it happened, but I think there is a lesson for us all somewhere here.
Make sure your passenger is up to the demands of the track as well as your car[:D][:D]

'As we apexed Island bend at just under a ton' .....good job he wasn't riding with me John , just over a ton and a quick exit would have taken his mind off it [:D].

John I will have to strap you into the gt2,with a sick bag then. After the heavy night to be in the chinese.
I wonder how the mobile chicane, melv the cup will be after his night in the chinese!!With vic breathing all over him,or past him.
Hope you have all booked good weather for it.
Sorry i know its the wrong thread![:D]

Anyone had any experience with Instructors at Oulton/through Easy track?

I'm interested in getting some local knowledge early in....so driving and being driven?

thx

[FONT=Trebuchet MS"] Easytrack do have good some excellent instructors, i have used them of privately run trackdays at Oulton and at Castle Coombe, Oulton is like a mini Nordschliefe , very 3 dimentional and ols hall is a bitch if you dont get it right, so its a good thing James you are looking for a little help see you there John[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

John, are you travelling up on the morning?

I've done Oulton on a Bike which was a hoot but it always pays to get some insight from the locals/experienced IMHO

[FONT=Trebuchet MS"]Yeah im travelling in the morning, could meet up at Hilton Park Services..if you want, or we could go back roads ...what do you think? Cheers

b) fancy taking me round early and showing me the changes at least? the lines and braking I can probably work out (from the tire wall you know you got it wrong)....I'll bring my own sick bag![:-]

[FONT=Trebuchet MS"] If you want a garage then i suggest we get there for no later than 7.30, so 6.15 at Hilton Park or 6.30 at Stafford, bet weather conditions at the present dictate a now show if it carries on methinks Cheers John[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

thks mel.....clearly luv to...mny thks

also can you get the full Oulton Circuit on TOCA2.....I've got a moody copy for Xbx thats all DTM and whilst I haven't unlocked all circuits cars etc I can't see oulton at all. On TOCA1 for PS2 i've got a little bitty circuit which is ok for the back straight, I think druids and lodges start finish and old & cascades then some silly hairpin maybe knickerbrook...but I'd like the full circuit?

Agree. Go for 630 stafford bt talk/mail friday to confirm

Don't talk too loudly, I'll still be tucked up in bed at that time ....[;)]

Yes, you can. Type in BIGLEY at the prompt and it will open all circuits. But bare in mind at Knickerbrook you have to knock the cones over to go around the right/left/right chicane -this has also been revised slightly since TOCA 2 came out -beware!!

That will be the Fosters Circuit, which is what the touring cars race on after all!! They omit the chicane at Knickerbrook. We will be on the International Circuit on Saturday. So get practicing!!!!

Dear All
I have now booked the chinese at Norley re your posts for 22 people at 9PM
Hope to see you all there
