I have an F35 in my loft somewhere, so I can take a picture if itll help the OP. This one was from my ' Turbo S and the same set was used in my very late 1989 2.7l (from which I have the manual) and I believe it was fitted to my 1988 220 Turbo too, although its long since been changed.
Im looking for a cage for one, if anyone still has one. Someone offered me one a few yeas ago but I cant remember who - James O maybe?

I'm fairly sure you're right with how it lights up, I've not used it for a year though so memory is a bit hazy! [
There might be a cage for it somewhere that you can have if it fits/if the OP doesn't want it.

So did Porsche fit different head units for different markets or was this a "dealer option" type process?
From memory, the stereo was optional. Perhaps a basic radio was standard, but I remember my Dad's two 944s coming with a huge list of options that would have been standard on most cars even then. The Germans were very poorly-specced back then.
I'd guess the cars came without the head unit from Germany, and PCGB fitted them according to the UK standard spec, or optioned order?

Radios are fitted by the local concessionaires and not the factory, for the most part.
The radio in Pauls quoted thread is the F35 that I was talking about.
