Would be muchly appreciated.

Yeah is it in working condition etc? I would be interested for sure. What is the actual make? Is it poss you could post a pic? Finally how much you wanting for it?

It worked when it was in the car. It's been sat ever since.

It's a Panasonic model number CQ-977FNP

PM me an offer I'm not too sure what they're worth.

I believe that it should be a Panasonic F35. Dark bronze in colour with 'Alphatuner' on the front.

That looks like an '86 radio Darryl. When its lit up is it green and orange? I used one of those (or possibly a slightly higher spec one as it was from an '86 Turbo) as my everyday radio for about ten years...

I have an F35 in my loft somewhere, so I can take a picture if itll help the OP. This one was from my ' Turbo S and the same set was used in my very late 1989 2.7l (from which I have the manual) and I believe it was fitted to my 1988 220 Turbo too, although its long since been changed.

Im looking for a cage for one, if anyone still has one. Someone offered me one a few yeas ago but I cant remember who - James O maybe?

Ah my bad I thought they were the same just different if you had the 10 speaker option.

I'm fairly sure you're right with how it lights up, I've not used it for a year though so memory is a bit hazy! [:D]

There might be a cage for it somewhere that you can have if it fits/if the OP doesn't want it.

This is the original Panasonic in my S2

Panasonic as an original fitment? Thats interesting. I would have thought that Porsche would have fit a Blaupunkt as original equipment unless the car was ordered with "prepared for radio" without a head unit. My 91 S2 which came from Japan had a Sony head unit but I assumed it had been changed out. So did Porsche fit different head units for different markets or was this a "dealer option" type process?

From memory, the stereo was optional. Perhaps a basic radio was standard, but I remember my Dad's two 944s coming with a huge list of options that would have been standard on most cars even then. The Germans were very poorly-specced back then.

I'd guess the cars came without the head unit from Germany, and PCGB fitted them according to the UK standard spec, or optioned order?

People always seem to state Blaupunkt! on forums when the question comes up, but the reality is that most Porsche GB cars had a National Panasonic / Panasonic stereo.

Radios are fitted by the local concessionaires and not the factory, for the most part.

The radio in Pauls quoted thread is the F35 that I was talking about.

Not from Reading Paul. It almost certainly came with the stereo that Darryl has for sale (https://www.flickr.com/photos/122471143@N05/13697815494/). The F35 wasn't launched until two years after you car was built.
