Ordering a Cayman GTS4.0

I'm about to place an order for a GTS 4.0 so this thread has been very helpful. I hadn't realised that the PASM -10mm is actually 10mm higher than standard. Where does it say this in the spec sheet? The info about the dual zone control on the aircon is very useful.

Under "Technical Specs" and "Drivetrain and Chassis" on this page: https://www.porsche.com/uk/models/718/718-models/718-cayman-gts-4/

"Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) sports suspension with ride height lowered by 20 mm - Electronically variable active damping system with two manually selectable modes (‘Normal’ and ‘Sport’); ride height lowered by 20 mm and with sportier setup"

And from the configurator option "Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) with ride height lowered by 10 mm":

"Electronically variable active damping system with two manually selectable modes (‘Normal’ and ‘Sport’); ride height lowered by 10 mm. For slightly added driving comfort and ground clearance, the standard “PASM sports suspension (20 mm lowered”) is replaced with “Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) incl. ride height lowered by 10 mm” for no extra charge. With this option the ride height of the GTS 4.0 models rises compared to the standard set-up"

Why the smokers package?

It puts a lid on the ugly hole in the centre console, and you get an extra-power point Jase. Ridiculous that you have to pay for it though … I’d be asking for it for free! [;)]

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Most helpful. Will be finalising the spec in the next few days and I'm told it'll be Q1 2022 delivery. Given road conditions here during the winter months i.e. lots of salt and other crap on the roads, I'm quite happy to wait till April next year.

I have a GTS 4.0, delivered October.

I went for the Aventurine green, was torn to the blue but after a series of blue BMW's decided on a change. There was one in the dealer which we liked and I'm not disappointed, somehow the colour suits the Porsche shape and 911's look good wearing it.

I got the Bose, I contacted a dealer who bought my M2 and a broker who was bidding for my M2 to ask what they considered 'essential' and both said the Bose.

I got cruise and because I do quite a bit of motorway work I wish I had got the active.

I got leather seats, I had alcantara in a Lotus Elise and felt it always looked scruffy and picked up bits. No experience of Porsche alcantara so others may know better.

I had active LED lights on my M2 and the Xenon lights on the GTS are definitely a downgrade, I wish I had put the LED lights on it.

Apart from that Ive got the parking sensors, the climate and also the smoking kit which basically puts a cover over the hole in the tunnel. If you see my other post it seems likely you will get some free distilled water in the rear light lenses.

You will love the car though, it's a wonderful thing to drive, very well balanced and precise in every respect. No regrets.

I'm still swaying between Night blue and Gentian blue although I started out with metallic white. Most of the option are easy choices on the GTS except colour. A shame there is only limited choices with the wheels :(

On a side note they are discontinuing Night blue from November.

I managed to see a night blue 718 next to a gentian blue 992. Happy with both to be honest and the fact that it’s being discontinued prior to my build date, the decision was made!

I am not sure if this helps, but here are photos of our previous Macan in Nightblue Metallic. The paint has a lot of little metallic flakes of purple, light blue and red that you can see up close in bright sunshine or under artificial lighting. On a cloudy day it's navy blue. We always thought it looked very smart and understated. [:)]

Rather obvious really but as a general comment on body colour I think that it’s essential to see it in the flesh, and outside rather in the glare of showroom lighting. Picture hues are variable and unreliable - witness the two above examples where (to me) the green looks like grey and the blue black!

In answer to why the smokers package-

There is a small pocket at the back end of the centre console, smokers package puts a nice little door on it. I have my garage opener in it but it would also take a toll money stash and keep it covered from prying eyes. You can take the ash tray bit out leaving a bigger space.

In reply to the comment on colour the colour of my Aventurine green is pretty much the same as in the picture, it looks a little less green in real life but the photo isn't inaccurate by any means.

Just to emphasise my comment about colours in pics, I see that a second pic of the Macan has been added which very clearly is blue … the first pic could be a completely different car!

Judging by the skies, the first was taken on a dull day whereas the sun was shining for the second, so the colour clearly is very sensitive to light conditions.

Yes, sorry, I edited the post on my mobile phone and forgot to state so.

I thought that a cloudy and a sunny day examples better showed the difference. You are absolutely right that the Midnight blue is sensitive to light conditions.

I think that is the selling point for me in terms of the night blue, understated in normal UK driving conditions (cloudy) but when the sun comes out it pops a little more. Gentian is tempting as is shark blue, none of these are difficult decisions as the car looks good in any colour.
