Option Codes

Frazer,

Finally got the option codes sorted - thanks for your advice. Just changed the lenses - what a difference ! Certainly a better match with the paint. Have also just treated myself to an alpine head unit - a far cry from the tape (whassat?) unit that was in before. Pictures to follow, as the car is in the spary shop as some git keyed the bonnet....

Totally agree with the comments you sent to Steve - I wouldn't recommend to anyone spending less than £6-7k, as all the cars I saw below this needed some serious work. I'd also say to anyone get an inspection through a friendly specialist

I think the C16 is the country code (UK) required for emissions or some such. Not sure about the F92 though.

Many thanks chaps. thats one decoder i hadnt tried and it came up with this for the C16,

Code
Option Description

C16
UK LUX spec: tinted windows, metallic paint, and a few other goodies.

Still nothing for the F92 and 100 though.

Theyre build codes. The option codes found on the internet are from from definitive guides too: I wouldnt lose any sleep over it. Sports seats and M030 are (or were) common upgrades (put another way: any dismantler who had decent sports seats or M030 kit wouldnt have it for long).

Autodata also says it is a 250 BHP model although there is only 1 pipe rather than 2 in the usual place on the inlet manifold. Just funny to see all the specs including the cruise control without an options code. That would be a tricky install!

I know, I can't see them anywhere online but they're definitely there in the original list.

For the C73 I've also looked at 073, that would indicate a car for Russia.

Arrgh, so frustrating!

If you look on the American sites & Clarke's garage it states "C73 Not available" and E76 not even given a mention, printing error?? maybe worth a call to Porsche GB?

Thanks Andy, I may do that.

I'm definitely reading it correctly (!) as it is on two stickers and the book. Will make a call!

ORIGINAL: benjj

Its an 81, one of the very first RHDs

Not catalyst then. I've only ever seen C denote either cat, or refer to country the car was going to, but never that number.

If it's one of the very early cars it might have different codes, before UK spec was finalised? The earliest we have in the Register has no underseal, a 924CGT rear spoiler in a different material, and vinyl rather than plastic decals (cut from two 924 badges)!

Ahh, interesting, thanks.

I have a chum in Stuttgart who may be able to help, I'll drop him a line.

After all this it will of course end up to be an ashtray or something!

Doesn't the C prefix have somthing to do with being a California car? I still reckon you are going to find a misprint on your options stickers, out of interest are they original stickers in the car?

Can be if it's C03, or Canada is C06. Catalyst is C02, I wonder if ze Germans were having an attempt at humour there! [&:]

All the options are on this link, including the non "M" option numbers that are the most common.

I think the fact that Ben's car is so early might be relevant.

It could be a misprint I suppose but there are two separate stickers on the car and one with the paperwork - all are the same and all are on different types/styles of sticker.
