4th APRIL, PORSCHE CENTRE NEWCASTLE
By Nick Stevenson Taken from Porsche Club site

The morning started with four members and their cars meeting in the car park of the Ramside Hall Hotel at 10am and travelling along the A1 and into Newcastle (apologies to those who got stuck in the chaos that was the roadwork's towards the Tyne Bridge, my fault for not researching the route before hand, sorry!) and onto the coast road arriving at the centre around 10.45am where other members were waiting, including Neill who had brought Buzz (the buzzard) along for the trip.
We were welcomed with a handshake and a warm welcome from the centres general manager David Gardiner and his staff and invited to take a look around. Some minutes later it was explained to us that there had been some demonstrator Porsches put aside for test-drives with customers who had been personally invited and unfortunately the only Porsche available for ourselves was a brand new 996 Turbo in Lapis blue metallic, it was gorgeous, and compared to my 1988 944 Lux (which I love dearly), absolutely awesome. I was the first to go out whilst other members gave their details, what a fantastic machine, to say it blew me away would be an understatement and for those members out there who have one of these cars in their garage you are so lucky, never mind, one day! I know that other members who had the chance to experience this will agree that this was an experience we will find hard to forget and I would like to thank David and his staff on behalf of all of those that attended for a very special morning.
