Another test drive down, and the good news is the seemingly offset pedals are no bother at all - that took all of 3 drives to fix!
All I can say is wow! I think I may have made the fatal mistake of falling in love with the Cayman... My wife took it for a drive too and loved it, and she is hardly a sports car person
I love the way it looks, the way it handles, the way it sounds, and the way it makes you feel part of the driving experience without being at all tiring. It can be a very relaxing place to be, as well as providing excitement 'on demand'. I think I am quite envious of all you current owners - what a brilliant car!
Tested the PASM today as well - I think the main reason for wanting it (on the roads anyway) is the ride comfort - I was still very impressed with the ride on 19" Carrerra Sports. The ability to transform the car into a solid yet still pliant ride is also welcome. If the standard ride is indeed the 7/10 of the PASM, I think it may be a necessity - not to mention the adaptability to driving conditions. Is it just me, or does the ride take longer to 'relax' after switching off PASM than it does to firm up when switching it on?
Still no sign of a car with Sports Chrono tho - they are going to have to try harder
I really would like to try both in the same vehicle.
On another note - also took a Z4M Coupe out.... Wow.... talk about a totally different experience. Raw and edgy and very very fast. Not nearly as civilised or pleasant to live with as the Cayman S. It would be great fun on the occasional day out, but would be almost impossible to live with.
It really confirmed another review/comment I read somewhere about the 2 cars. The Z4M is an engine with a chassis attached, and the Porsche is a chassis with engine attached.
For me - the Porsche wins hands down in every area but 'more power'. The reality is that in 99% of situations, it's abilities will outshine the Z4M though, and doesn't make you feel like you could die at any moment!!
Now where is that X51 upgrade???
