old turbo back for good

Got an email from the owner of my original much loved turbo last week,we had emailed each other in the past and met up at the TIPEC do a couple of years ago,i asked him to give me first refusal if he sold her,and cut a long story short i picked her up today,very weird experience to "re-buy" a car but this one was SO special to me i had to do it[:)]She is 1990 bridge spoiler model in flat black and Linen leather sports seats and is completely standard so feels completely" limo like" compared to my red beast.So i can come to a track day now even if its a quiet one[:D][:D]She was sent straight to the boys at Brackley for a poke around canot wait to bring her home,this time she is a keeper [:)]
 
Thanks!Me too i can't believe it still very sureal,my girlfreind(now wife!)was not impressed by her at the time so i sold,always regretted that choice,only car i was REALLY sentimental about[:D]
 
Great news Mark. We were only talking about that car a few weeks ago at The Ace. Did you have an inkling then that she might be coming home?
 
Not at all at that time,only last week he got in contact about a possible sale he is a TOP bloke and has really looked after her brilliantly, more than i could have hoped for,cannot believe my luck,to be honest i nearly bottled it trying to be sensible but he sent some photos to me of the car and from that point i was in trouble[:D] Quiet trackdays here come!
 
How sentimental [;)]

I'm not sure I would waver so easy if someone sent me a photograph of the three previous cars I've ever owned, they were last seen as compressed square lumps of Rover, Renault and Vauxhall [:(]
 
Not sure what i should do mirrors wise,it has genuine cup mirrors should i go back to flags kindly supplied with the car when i picked up?Did find them(cups) small...[8|]
 
I doubt you'd struggle to find a buyer for the teardrops if you do. Personally I have converted both my cars to teardrops and I wouldn't go back.

I know exactly where my first 944 Turbo (not first Porsche though) is - I'm going to the 'Ring with its owner at Easter in fact. It's unlikely to be for sale any time soon, but I wouldn't buy it back even if it was. I'm not sure I even have sentimental attachment to my current Turbo even though it's been mine for 5 1/2 years now and I doubt I'll ever sell it. It's more a case of me having the benefit of all the money I have spent on it than someone else.

Mind you if someone were to offer much more than I expect it would be worth for it without an engine I'd help them load it on a trailer this weekend.
 
Let me get it back and see which are prefered,if i ditch the cups you have first dibs on them Mr Simms,if anyone is after a steel turbo backbox i will have practically new RPM square trumpet style one available at a very competitive rate as i am putting my original o.e backbox on it that lost its last job when the red one was fitted with its current bazooka[:D]

Thanks Peter[:)] Sold it 1997!!( then got an elise mk 1 and sold it after 600 miles!) rang Nottingham opc today and spoke to someone who remembered it vividly i think he found it amusing when i told him i got it back.It is getting the 968 mo30 anti roll bars,mo30 castor mounts and a settup at Promax plus a thorough poke around ,picking it up when i get back[:)]

 
Better this time around?When i got it originally i was scared stiff of the perfomance,couldn't afford a big problem if it would have occured,or the insurance (it was around 2k if i remember in 93[:-],)but despite all this it was worth all the sacrifices at the time-very exiting,can't figure if its better this time, its just different,very unexpected,kept laughing to myself because it was like one of those bizzare dreams where you move back to school,or an old house you used to live in .....Does that make sense?[8|]
