I have been restoring a 1983 924 N/A
She is running fine apart from a blow on one of the exhaust manifold gaskets.
Now she had done a couple of hundred miles I would like do another oil and filter change.
Has anyone any opinions on Jet 10/40 semi synthetic ?
Or any other oil recommendations.

For the age of the car, and from experience of these, semi-synth is really to thin once it gets hot and you could end up with leaks you never had.
Perfectly fine in the 2.5 engine but not the 2.0l

Personally I've always used a good quality 20/50 in a 2.0l 924, yes semi will take longer to degrade but these engines where never designed to use semi synth oil.

Just my 2p worth of course [:)]

Semi synth is a marketing dream and a waste of money.

I'd save my money and stick with good quality mineral oil or go fully synthetic for longer durability and better hot engine protection.

If you have any queries on oil technology have a read of the Opie Oils website. Or read a big thread on 924 oil here

As I have a 924 turbo I use a pretty expensive race synthetic which isn't appropriate for your use. However I have always used Mobil 1 on my cars for nearly 20 years with no issues.

Have a look at this for exhaust gaskets as several people have done them recently.

Re oil just use a 20/50 this is what the engine was designed for.
If you change your oil every year, as recommended, how many miles will you have done? 2 or 3000?
Its only being very lightly used.
