Having removed my cylinder head i have poorly cylinder bores
Need to get the bottom end out.
Out the top or the bottom?
Any other tips please.
Anyone have a spare 3.0 s2 bottom end in good condition please?

Thankyou,Tim

Never had to drop the bottom end, but think this has been asked many times - worth searching the forum for tips, but out from below only apparantly !

I read somewhere that S2 bottom ends cant be rebored due to the Nikasil coating, is there any truth in that ?

The block/bore and pistons arent unique to the S2. Its exactly the same as the 2.7l engine, which is long-stroked so if your crank is good they youre in luck. 2.7l bottom ends arent prized so one shouldnt cost too much.

The bores of all 944s can be rebored but you need a great deal of knowledge and the right super hard tools. The bores arent coated - the block is made of very high silicone alloy making working them extremely difficult.

Tim, if you do elect to buy a S2 bottom end / short engine, then remember that your good S2 crank is worth strong money and there will be plenty of people who will pay for it.
